~ Knull to the Xenophages. |
The Xenophages, also known as Symbiote Hunters, are the main antagonists of the 2024 superhero film Venom: The Last Dance, the fifth installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the third and final installment in the Venom trilogy.
They are Knull’s loyal hunters who go to Earth to hunt down Venom with it being revealed the Xenophages are the Symbiotes' sisters. They are the final archenemies of Eddie Brock and Venom.
Biography[]
Going to Earth[]
The Xenophages are first seen crawling around Knull. In pain and weakened from remaining in his prison, he explains how his Symbiotes betrayed him, thus orders his Xenophages to track down and find the Codex now that he has sensed it with the only reward being their lives. Various portals are shown opening up, with the Xenophages quickly following through. One of them senses the Codex as Venom arrives home after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It begins to crawl on a building, with Eddie/Venom sensing its presence but ignoring it to go and save several dogs within a dog-fighting ring. While Rex Strickland used camera technology to track down Venom and Eddie, the Xenophages managed to locate him via the Codex that activated via transforming into his full form.
They both track Eddie along with his Codex on an airplane headed for New York. Sneaking behind the passengers, they get frightened when they see the alien creature on the window. Lunging towards Venom, he gets spooked as well when Strickland at the same time attempts to ambush him. The Xenophage tears through the airplane, causing it to crash and (presumably) leaving no survivors except Eddie who managed to parachute down safely to the deserts of Nevada.
Las Vegas Attack[]
While Strickland learns of the Xenophages at Area 51, Eddie scours the Nevada desert. His symbiote explains to him why the Xenophages have arrived to hunt him along with the others down, explaining that the only way they would be able to get rid of the codex is if one of them passed away. Meanwhile, the Xenophage hops from tree to tree, attempting to find venom. Eddie transfers the symbiote to a horse found on a ranch, who then proceeds to run extremely fast. As the symbiote is in is full form, the Xenophage managed to locate him in the forests of Nevada. Seeing an opportunity, Strickland orders his soldiers to airdrop within the area. They initially capture Eddie and the symbiote, but in a last minute getaway the symbiote swims. The soldiers manage to catch up to the symbiote, but it ends up Re-bonding with Eddie forcing it to enable its full form which allows the Xenophage to hunt them down. One of the soldiers strangles Eddie, however he gains the upper ground and manages to kill them using their own gun. The soldiers along with Venom then fall into a waterfall, with the Xenophage following behind. Strickland orders his soldiers to capture and kill the Xenophage, but this goes horrifically wrong as their bullets have no effect. Instead, several of his soldiers end up being killed/shredded by the Xenophage. Strickland issues an evacuation order for the surviving ones.
Final Showdown at Area 51[]
Due to a careless reverie, Venom manifested to dance with Mrs. Chen, drawing the Xenophage to their location, crashing through the ceiling of the penthouse; although, when Venom withdrew into Eddie, the Xenophage lost the Codex signal again, thus left to search outside. Despite this, Strickland's military unit arrived to apprehend Eddie and Venom; the Xenophage appeared to understand that those group of humans had the Codex, so pursued them to Area 51.
In the secret Area 55, Venom had to materialise to save Eddie, with the Xenophage tunneling into the corridor to reach them; Mulligan's Symbiote held back the creature to allow Venom to retreat and rally the other captured Symbiotes, though it cost the former detective his life. Most of the Symbiotes were unleashed due to Venom's order, and acquired hosts to battle the Xenophage.
The battle burst up to the surface, whereupon the Xenophage alerted Knull that she had found the Codex, thus Knull portaled reinforcement Xenophages. The creatures destroy all of the Symbiotes, until only Venom remained.
Venom expanded to trap five Xenophages and dragged them to the highly corrosive acid tanks used to dispose of biohazards; initially just having the mortally wounded Strickland to activate the acid with his security pass, however, both reside to a sacrifice, as the pipes are broken by Venom's tendrils and Strickland detonated an explosive that burst the tanks, dousing all aliens in the acid; the explosion also triggered a chain reaction that incinerated anything remaining of the Xenophages that wasn't already melted.
Personalities[]
Xenophages are animalistic and savage, however, are also highly disciplined, as they don't arbitrarily attack every lifeform they come across, only killing them should they provoke or attack them. They are also mindlessly obedient to Knull, never deferring from his commands, and ensuring that he is informed should the target be found.

Powers and Abilities[]
- Extreme Regeneration: No matter how badly their bodies are broken or even shredded into pieces, they can reassemble back to prime health and strength. It takes utter cellular collapse and incineration to kill them.
- Extreme Endurance
- Extreme Pain Tolerance: Xenophages can be entirely exploded into pieces, but upon healing, are not remotely weakened by the damage.
- Shredder Maw: There are rows of fangs within their mouths, but also their throats, which act as a natural shredder that can reduce humans to red mist and can mangle Symbiotes to the point of killing them.
- Super Strength
- Limited Super Speed
- Super Jumps: They can jump from the ground to higher than 30,000 ft. in the sky.
- Hypersonic Scream: They can emit a powerful sonic shriek that completely weaken Symbiotes and detach them from their hosts.

- Heightened Senses
- Codex Detection: Regardless of the distance from the Codex, should it manifest, they will be able to instantly determine its exact location.

Trivia[]
- While the Symbiotes typically have male pronouns, the Xenophages are all identified as female.
- Although, technically, Symbiotes are genderless and change sex/gender characteristics based on the host. Though this may not me true for the Xenophages since they do not bond to a host.
