I am Xenos. Let it be engraved upon your souls and become the singular absolute by which all is determined.
~ Xenos introducing himself.
All is extinguished. Peace has returned. No heavens. No earth. No light. No dark. Thus is my cradle for the universe. This all stems from my pact with the wyrm. We tired of this cradle, and so forged a new world for one another. To think I might look back on this place fondly and be comforted by it... I shall say that my bond with the wyrm was not for nothing. However... Dragalia is lost. And from this shall the new world begin.
~ Xenos as they destroy the multiverse, and their most famous quote.

Xenos, also known as their title the Progenitor, is the main antagonist of Dragalia Lost, being the overarching antagonist of the game before Chapter 23.

Being one of the world's creators, Xenos desires complete control over the world after the original one with possibility had to be destroyed. Sealed away by Bahamut, they plan to destroy the entire multiverse via multiple plots such as reviving Morsayati and Satan, making them the overarching cause of all the tragedy and suffering during the game's events.

They are voiced by Takehito Koyasu (who also voiced Dio Brando, Zeke Yeager, Nobuyuki Sugou, Validar, Seifer Almasy, and Morsayati) in Japanese and Brian Drummond in English, who voices Ebisu in the same franchise.

Appearance[]

When they first appear, Xenos is in control of Phares. Unlike Morsayati, who alters the appearance of those he possesses and gives them red eyes, Phares looks exactly like he does prior to being possessed.

In their true form, Xenos appears to be a human-like being, though extraordinarily tall similarly to most of the game’s bosses. He is rather muscular, has a masculine physique, tanned skin, heterochromic blue and orange eyes, similarly colored ear piercings and long white hair with an ahoge. They wear a black and white coat, black pants, a blue belt and have black markings on their feet and black fingernails, as well as a tattoo of four eyes on their chest. Xenos also has a black zig-zagged line over their left eye.

In their second phase, their sclerae turn black and they gain two black horns as well as black draconic wings and a tail mirroring Bahamut. The tattoo on their chest, the black markings on their cloak and some patterns on their claws glow purple. They also grow golden spikes all over their body.

In their final phase, Xenos retains their appearance from their second phase, and now pilots a humongous version of their torso, with purple skin, long white hair, glowing eyes as well as purple horns and a halo at the back. It has pieces of golden armour on its shoulders and claw-like hands, and wears a white coat similar to Xenos, exposing its hollow chest cavity from which Xenos pilots it, representing how he cast off his heart.

Personality[]

Xenos: Why do you struggle? Why will you not accept my world?!

Ilia: The fact you can't understand that is your limitation!
Euden: You abandoned the heart, which is why you're going to lose!

~ An exchange between Xenos, Euden and Ilia, calling him out for discarding his morals and his arrogance.

Initially, like his servant Elysium, Xenos was once a more amiable and protective deity, loving to spend his time with his own creations, causing him to mourn their destructions at the hands of the Origin. Unlike Elysium, it's shown that Xenos's "love" for the life he created became controlling and one-sided rather than genuine care, merely desiring them as entertaining playthings and showing no remorse when he destroys countless multitudes of them to create his new universe, admitting himself that he created the universe because he was bored. This makes Xenos no better and even worse than his pactwyrm the Origin, who, while being responsible for destroying the first universe, only did it to defend the both of them and at core wanted his creations to decide the course of their own fates. Conversely, Xenos merely wanted to be able to enjoy his creations as long as possible and as he wished. That being said, Xenos has no problem personally wrecking and destroying his own creations, being willing to fight the party and showing a high degree of sadism and cruelty to them, as when he mocks the party's efforts at defeating him after he mortally wounds Mordecai, as well as when he laughs sadistically when blasting Euden in his boss fight.

Even though it's shown that initially, Xenos didn't want to use his creations for his own causes and was later betrayed by them, he refused to accept his flawed belief on complete order and instead determined that it was their ungratefulness that he was turned on and sealed away. Thus, it's heavily implied that Xenos believed his care for his creations hindered him from creating a perfect world, leading him to cast off his heart and become an even worse monster. This is in stark contrast to many other god-like beings in the game's universe who, while tending to be power-hungry and overbearing, eventually realise their mistakes and learn to trust in the mortals to guide their fates, most obviously being Xenos's own Pactwyrm Bahamut. This shows that despite not being "higher" in wisdom to his creations and being given the chance to bond with them, Xenos still saw himself above mortals and refused to change his ways.

Xenos was also exceptionally arrogant, viewing their conscience as something hindering their goals and believing that their destruction of countless universes was justified due to being a god, as well as refusing his creations possibility even when they so fiercely fight for it. They also remarked that Euden and his party were mere insects and decided that they could always kill them later, proving to be a fatal mistake when the party take this opportunity to gather the might to defeat Xenos afterwards. When told by Euden that deep down, he's no different from mortals, Xenos is enraged and calls the prince out for his insolence, showing that due to their high self-opinion, Xenos refused to accept criticism from anybody. This arrogance would also lead to Xenos refusing to forge bonds with anybody, instead manipulating others to his own gain as shown by how he intentionally created the Archdemons to be chaotic beings that despise order and himself. Additionally, should Xenos’s remark that all events up till now have lead to their revival be believed, this would make them a hypocrite as they either manipulated or took advantage of the fallen timelines to fill them with enough black mana to destroy the multiverse, directly opposing their view of the multiverse as a mistake.

Xenos also lacks any genuine respect or affection towards his allies. While they may have once treasured their bond with the Origin, Xenos’s remark that “Dragalia is lost” in their monologue shows that they no longer feel any remorse cutting ties with the dragon and that all they see their former pact as is a way for Xenos to enhance their own power. The respect he shows Beren also likely isn’t genuine, with Xenos showing rather controlling behaviour to his right hand man with Beren blindly following along. This in itself shows that Xenos is instead moulding Beren into his perfect minion via manipulation instead of letting him help out of his true free will, though Beren sees no problem with this and by the time he dies, is so embittered he doesn't care anymore.

Paralleling the main protagonist Euden, Xenos's primary motivations are a need to "protect" and "care" for their creations. However, unlike Euden, Xenos insists that their actions are for the good of all life while Euden recognises when his concern can cause harm, a prime example of which being when he lets go of his obsessive need to protect his friends and instead trusts them to help him and vice versa. On the flip side, Xenos keeps holding onto his delusions, believing that humanity will revel in total order and control no matter how hard they fight for possibility, refusing to allow them to take charge of their own fate and as a result, refusing to connect with others to reawaken from this disillusion. Furthermore, while it's shown that their motivation for creating a new world was to make a perfect one without the evil or avarice of humanoids, Xenos themselves refuses to acknowledge the good that has come out of possibility, ignoring several good timelines and even committing even worse atrocities, displaying a hypocritical and arrogant attitude towards mortal life. It's also noted by Origa that she foresaw that Xenos's world would force the misfortunate to live out in misery without a chance of changing their fates, displaying that Xenos was lying about eliminating all suffering in their world and only wanted it to suit their likings. This, along with Otherworld Euden makes Xenos a dark reflection of what would happen to Euden if his desire to protect would cause him to cast off his bonds and begin to act in a way only he believes is beneficial to others.

With even their last words being a curse towards Euden for defying them, Xenos cemented themselves as a remorseless, delusional tyrant who viewed themselves over everybody else. While they might have felt a smidgen of care for their creations in the past, their obsession with proving themselves superior and enforcing their will over all others caused them to discard and disregard their bonds, leading to their death at Euden's hands. Ironically, not only was Euden a fragment of Xenos's own heart, but he posthumously created the peaceful and harmonious world Xenos had always desired, showing that it was Xenos's superiority complex all along that led to their wishes not being fulfilled.

Biography[]

Background[]

Long ago, Xenos and the Origin found each other in the dark void and in their loneliness, formed a pact decided to create a world full of people and dragons. The two creators lived in peace with their creations, with Xenos even giving up some of his power for them to use (which are implied to be the Primal Mark fragments that all people possess). However, in time both people and dragon would hunger for the creators' powers and while Xenos wished to settle the conflict peacefully, the Origin acted in self defense and erased the world. Wishing for that tragedy to not repeat itself, Xenos decided that for the current world, they would create a linear one which they controlled. The Origin however, held onto the belief that possibility was the answer and that their creations should be able to decide their own fates, even if it meant destruction. Unable to find common ground, Xenos engaged in an epic battle with the Origin.

In retaliation, the Origin created the Greatwyrms who aided him in sealing away Xenos using their Primal Marks, while Xenos created the Archdemons, Metatron and Satan to mock the Origin's goal of allowing possibility. The Origin defeated Xenos, albeit at the cost of losing his physical form and body, sealing away the Progenitor away from the multiverse, leaving custody of the world to the Greatwyrms. However, Xenos eventually escapes and begins making his own perfect world by destroying other worlds so the Greatwyrms, calling upon the Origin's power, fuse into the dragon Bahamut to stop them, acting as an incomplete vessel of the Origin's destruction, defeating Xenos with Elysium's help and sealing them away once again, with Bahamut's soul lingering in the space between worlds. With his companions gone, Elysium would become owner of the Origin's Primal Mark and look after the world while Xenos's Primal Mark would be passed down from human to human.

With Metatron and some other good demons(later angels), wishing to stop their evil brethren, sealing Satan away and banishing the Archdemons, the threat of Xenos was mostly negated, with custody of the world and its timelines being passed on to the Origin's loyal servant and bearer of the Primal Marks Elysium.

However, despite their imprisonment, Xenos was able to continue manipulating the world by spreading their black mana into it from his imprisonment in otherworld. He also casts out his heart for accepting others, deeming it unnecessary. His heart, after a series of events, would later become the demon Morsayati who would be feared all across Grastaea. Fortunately, the Greatwyrms, anticipating Xenos's revival, had left portions of their souls behind in order to assist their future incarnations in case of the Progenitor's return.

Eventually, they discover a boy suffering from wyrmscales named Phares. Seeing an opportunity, Xenos made a deal with him, granting the boy a longer life in exchange for them being able to manipulate him. However, they are found out one by one of Alberia's soldiers when he looks through the now adult Phares's diaries. In response, Xenos summoned one of the archdemons named Loki, who took on the form of Harle and banished the original to an alternate timeline.

From there, Xenos and Loki infiltrated the Alberian royals and tricked Aurelius into releasing Morsayati. Along the way, Xenos found Beren and took him in to further his goals after seeing the power he had. Loki also infiltrated the Ilian Church, convincing the pope Origa to release Satan to prevent Xenos's revival, although he knew that Satan's revival would not only destroy the world and expedite Xenos's plans, but also grant Loki the chaos he enjoys.

Chapters 22-23[]

Eventually, Xenos revealed that they were possessing Phares to the Halidom party with the belief that Phares was already dead as they corrupted Elysium into a void dragon under their control. Later, after Loki is banished by Harle, Xenos breaks him out as they considered Loki to still be useful while acknowledging that Loki has no loyalty to them. Despite this, Phares and Beren move on to Grams to finally free the Progenitor from their prison.

To his surprise, Phares is still alive and starts fighting back, even demanding Beren to kill him in order to keep Xenos from escaping. Instead, Beren uses his own body as a gateway to release Xenos.

Now free once more, the Progenitor introduces himself to the party as Xenos and declares that all will be as they demand. Despite the party's efforts to strike them down, they prove themself untouchable to their attacks due to being able to rewind to ensure that their defeat is the only outcome, causing the party to lose hope in beating them. Xenos tells them that the party has served their purpose, being used as points in time to lead to this very outcome, and prepares to kill them. Zethia and Nedrick, wielding Bahamut's power arrive, but even they hardly leave a scratch on the deity. Just as all seems lost, Emile, leading the Dyrenell army, arrives and rescues the party, whisking them away.

Chapters 24-25[]

Fortunately, it seems that Xenos has not regained his full strength, and thus the party get to work evacuating the people of Grams, with Emile offering to take care of the people of Grams and New Alberia while Euden and the party set off to the legendary resting place of the original Greatwyrms, the Dragon Necropolis after Ilia remembers seeing a memory of the original Greatwyrms defeating Xenos. Meanwhile, Xenos hides in a fortress of their own creation, regaining their strength while posting Terminals out to guard their base, with their return also causing more fiends to spawn and strengthen, terrorising the people of Grastaea. They also free Loki from his prison to test Euden's strength and torment him shortly after the Origin's defeat, which the Archdemon succeeds in doing albeit at the cost of his life.

Seeking to expedite the destruction of the world, Xenos releases more Terminals from rifts that crack open holes in space, using them to funnel resources and other worlds into a dark orb which he is using to create his perfect world. During a fight with the Terminals, Euden falls in one such hole but is rescued by Mordecai, who had recently been out on a travel throughout space in search of answers. He reveals to the Halidom crew that he discovered that he was once that heart of Xenos, cast out for accepting others.

Through her training, Ilia uses her mastered Auspex powers to close the rifts made by Xenos and the Terminals. However, Xenos and Beren themselves arrive, reopening the rifts, reactivating the Terminals as well as summoning the dark orb. When questioned why they choose to destroy the world, Xenos explains that they see the branched off worlds as errors and mistakes, and thus like one discards of rubbish, they too destroy worlds created by possibility. Fortunately, Mordecai harnesses the power of all the parallel worlds to empower the main one, preventing it from being destroyed and the new world from being created, so Xenos, still needing to regain their strength, retreats with Beren.

Xenos continues his assault of the worlds, attacking the world of Otherworld Euden when Zena and Euden arrive to fetch her physical body, though the demon-possessed prince pays no heed as since his revenge on Elysium was stolen away after all of them faded away after the main one died, he simply seeks to destroy the world the Holywyrm loved. Working together, Zena extracts Morsayati out of her brother while Euden destroys him. However, Otherworld Euden reveals that he accepted the will of Xenos and is working together with them, hoping to remove all of the tragedy he caused by remaking the world, using his own black-mana saturated world as a bomb to destroy all others.

Saddened by this sudden revelation, Zena and Euden fight her brother, who shapeshifts into Chronos. They strike him down, with Zena taking the responsibility of killing him, but he reveals that the spark needed to destroy his world has been ignited, and it explodes, killing everybody except for Zena and Euden. Hurrying back to the main world, Xenos reveals that with all parallel worlds gone, they are free to do as they please and destroys the universe, save for the Halidom thanks to the Auspexes.

Chapter 26[]

While the party makes their way to defeat Xenos and remake the world, Xenos notices them and sends out Beren who summons his pawns: versions of Euden's friends who, betrayed by parallel versions of him, are full of hate towards the original and the party, as well as numerous fiends and corrupted dragons from other worlds. Fortunately, Euden's friends deal with the endless swarm of enemies while he takes on Beren himself, defeating him and clearing away most of the fiends. However, with Beren gone more memories of the world start spawning out of control, including the Archdemons, who the party hold back, Gatov staying behind to take care of the larger monstrosities. However, more corrupted dragons arrive, forcing the Auspexes to reset the current piece of world they are standing on to its previous form, scattering the party who take on the separated dragons while Euden, Nedrick, Zethia, Notte and the Auspexes approach Xenos.

Euden and the Auspexes reach Xenos, with the party taking down the dragons with the help of the parallel Agito. Xenos congratulates them for their efforts, but states that their efforts are moot as his will is supreme and that they cannot defeat him. The Auspexes ready to battle them, causing Xenos to mock the party for their foolishness. However, when they use their Auspex powers nothing happens and Xenos knocks them down. Mordecai figures that this is because their powers have to be focused under a single will, and thus volunteers to channel this power. He manages to deal a wound to Xenos, but they attempt to land a mortal blow on Ilia, which he blocks using himself as a shield, injuring him fatally. Ilia swears vengeance, and as Mordecai dies, Nedrick temporarily distracts Xenos as Bahamut. With his dying breath, Mordecai reveals that Euden, being made of Morsayati's flesh, bears a portion of Xenos's heart, specifically the one that thinks and gives to others and thus can replace him as the vessel of creation, before thanking Ilia for their time together and passing on.

Not willing for Mordecai's sacrifice to be in vain, Euden, empowered by the Auspexes, faces off Xenos, who reveals that he knew Euden was part of their heart all along. As they plans to show him how pitiful the heart is by killing Euden, Notte transforms into her giant form and blocks the attack, proclaiming that the heart is more powerful than Xenos could ever imagine, and that they will beat him using its power, with the rest of the party arriving to assist as well. Xenos is shocked that they manage to get through his defenses, which Euden proclaims is thanks to the power of bonds. Outraged and unable to understand why they don't desire his world, Xenos attacks, beginning his bossfight. In his third phase, he summons three shields negating damage and forcing Euden and the party to attack his tentacles. Xenos launches a powerful blast towards him, but with Zethia by his side, he blocks it completely and launches it back at Xenos, destroying all the shields before landing a bigger hit on Xenos themselves. With the shields gone, Euden leads a final assault on Xenos and finally, with his body breaking apart, Xenos explodes in a blast of energy.

However, just as the Auspexes try to completely restore the world, the process is interrupted by a mysterious force which Euden realises is the core of Xenos, having hidden himself away in a pocket dimension in the stronghold, regaining his strength and interfering with them. Euden decides to venture down and defeat Xenos alone, with Midgardsormr tagging along thanks to his pact.

There, they uncover a memory of Xenos, who reveals that he and the Origin once lived in peace with their creations, but soon they would covet their power and attack, and even though Xenos tried to settle the conflict, the Origin destroyed the world, causing Xenos to desire a linear world so such a tragedy would not occur again, but the Origin insisted that their creations should decide what to do, and if they chose to be destroyed, so be it. Unable to accept that he would allow his creations to go to ruination, Xenos battles the Origin, causing their legendary conflict. After seeing the memory, the real Xenos arrives, impressed by Euden's ability and revealing they cast off their heart as they felt regret for their actions, expressing that they believed the heart was hindering them from achieving a perfect world. Euden counters this, stating that Xenos's feelings of remorse only shows that he is as human as the rest of them, and isn't an omnipotent deity as he'd like to believe, attacking vowing to end his sadness and obsession. However, Xenos manages to block his attacks, with Euden's power of creation being negated by him.

Just then, when Euden is on the brink of collapse, Zethia manages to reach out to him with her bonds, revealing that all people possess a small portion of the Primal Marks and along with everybody, reaches out and offers her power to Euden, allowing him the strength to fight back. Xenos is horrified by this new advancement, which Euden tells him is the power of bonds and the heart and engages in one final clash. Finally, with Midgardsormr at his side, Euden lands a fatal blow and ends the Consummate Creator once and for all.

However, with Xenos's death, Euden begins to fade away, being a part of his heart. As Midgardsormr mourns the loss of his friend, the prince comforts him and as his last act, using the Progenitor's power to make a harmonious and peaceful world full of possibility before passing on. As such, in a way Euden fulfils Xenos's dream of a perfect world, though it's full of possibility instead of void of it.

Powers and Skills[]

  • Godlike physical attributes: As a deity Xenos has physical attributes far surpassing any mortal, being able to blast adventurers to other sides of the map with a single blow, fatally wounding Mordecai in one attack as well as being able to tolerate a constant onslaught of attacks. They are also nimble and quite agile for their large size, capable of executing long-distance dashes in rapid succession. In their prime, Xenos managed to stand toe-to-toe against the Origin himself and even destroy his physical body completely, displaying great competency in terms of physical strength and durability.
  • Immortality: Being the creator of the multiverse, Xenos is billions or even trillions of years old, having lived through the lifespans of two multiverses, and may have drifted alone in the void even longer. It is unlikely that he has aged at all in that time, and even in the modern era seems to be in the peak of health. It's likely that Xenos doesn't draw on any kind of substance for sustenance either, unlike Morsayati and the Archdemons who require black mana.
  • Extremely high intelligence: Xenos is incredibly intelligent, being able to subtly influence events throughout time to lead to his release, such as the release of Loki. He is also rather charismatic and a good manipulator, being capable of swaying Beren and Otherworld Euden to his side, even getting Beren to see the world from his view. If Xenos’s remark that all of the events so far served their purposes is to believed, it’s likely that Xenos purposely manipulated almost all of the timelines to ensure that they would become black-mana filled wastelands that would detonate if he managed to get Otherworld Euden to go through with his plan. Furthermore, Xenos is incredibly patient as despite their entrapment for millions, if not billions of years, they managed to keep collected and set all these plans into motion.
  • Nigh-Omniscience: Being as old as the universe, Xenos has witnessed all events in history and has great knowledge on the things of the past, as well as presumably being able to see anything they please. This can be seen from how they ascertain Euden and Morsayati's origins as their heart without any previous evidence, as well as how they accurately send Beren to the party's location despite being a great distance away. However, despite foreseeing events such as their creations rebelling against them, Xenos's arrogance prevented them from acting in self-preservation due to their belief that humanoids are insignificant and not worth worrying about.
  • Black mana manipulation: Xenos is the source of all black mana, with the deadly substance being a manifestation of their malice. As such, Xenos's very presence strengthens fiends and makes them more aggressive. They also have authority over all black mana creatures such as demons and can create them as they will. Xenos can also spread black mana around to pollute their surroundings, summon fiends and use it for many of their attacks, infusing their attacks with black mana and using it to repel adventurers.
  • Ergokinesis: Xenos can use an unknown purple energy to attack, be it to enhance their melee attacks or by using it to bombard players with strikes and beams of it. They can also summon a mass of purple slime which forms into their demonic vessel. Whether this substance/energy is black mana is unknown.
  • Possession: While not outright taking control of his body, Xenos was able to reach out to Phares from his prison in the Otherworld and make him his puppet, manipulating him into serving his goals. During the advent of his return, Xenos would outright possess Phares though his host would be able to resist his control for short periods at a time.
  • Projection: Xenos can project his will onto others from within his prison, being capable of commanding both Otherworld Euden and Phares to do his bidding.
  • Terminal summoning: Xenos is the master of the Terminals, a group of mysterious, cube-like beings from the Otherworld that possess elemental magic. He uses them in many of his attacks, using their power to boost himself as well as getting them to join in with his attacks. He can also command them to attack people and uses them to open rifts in reality.
  • Draconic and demonic transformations: Xenos can transform into a draconic form resembling their pactwyrm Bahamut, granting themselves flight and greater strength. He can also summon a humongous, demonic version of his upper body which he pilots, along with twin tentacles that shoot elemental magic. In their demonic state they are nearly invulnerable, taking abysmally low damage until both tentacles are severed and the seals protecting them are broken.
  • Teleportation: Xenos can teleport to any destination they please in the blink of an eye, warping from one end of the battlefield to the other in an instant. They are also implied to have teleported Beren and Void Elysium to the Dragon Necropolis as soon as they heard of the Halidom party's plans.
  • Primal Mark: As a deity, Xenos possesses a Primal Mark, a power that shows his authority over the world, being the first one to wield such a power alongside his pactwyrm The Origin. Thus, he is functionally omnipotent and at his full strength, is only rivalled by both his pactwyrm and a bond-empowered Euden in might, with his magic being able to alter reality as he sees fit.
    • Nigh-omnipotence: Xenos possesses a seemingly limitless control over magic and black mana, being able to reshape reality as he sees fit and is filled with almost infinite power. He is so strong that his first battle with the Origin resulted in his pactwyrm losing his physical body, while during his first escape from the Otherworld, it took the combined might of the Origin's destructive will, the Greatwyrms fusing into one and Elysium using their Primal Marks to defeat Xenos.
    • Nigh-invincibility: By manipulating time to have only a fixed outcome, Xenos can grant himself pseudo-invincibility, taking attacks from two manifestations of Bahamut with no injuries whatsoever. However, the fact that he doesn't use this ability in his final battle with Euden suggests that he requires an actual universe and time stream to use it, which he lacks thanks to destroying the whole multiverse. However during his demonic transformation in his final phase Xenos becomes near invincible thanks to the protective seals around him, which must be destroyed by killing the tentacles he summons. Even when weakened Xenos is also capable of resisting Euden and Primal Midgardsormr's attacks until they acquire the full power of the Primal Marks.
    • Creation Magic: Being a creator deity and original possessor of the Primal Marks, Xenos is able to remake and shape the world around him as he sees fit, effortlessly destroying and consuming countless universes as raw material for his new one. He was only stopped temporarily when Mordecai, a remnant of his heart, used the chains of possibility to impede his progress, though this effort proved futile once Otherworld Euden destroyed all other realms of possibility. Like the Auspexes and Beren, Xenos can make miniature worlds as he pleases, with any rules he puts in place there being so strong they can negate the combined power of the Auspexes, though not the full power of the Primal Marks. Xenos can also summon memories of people and dragons from alternate realities like Beren even after they're long dead.
    • Possibility manipulation: Xenos can manipulate causality as he wishes, causing all outcomes of the future to lead his triumph or controlling time to trap people in a place. However, it seems that he cannot use it as proficiently as he wishes when weakened as even though he managed to prevent the party from hurting him, Xenos was unable to stop Emile from rescuing them. He does remark that he cares little about the fate of the party though, which means he could've let them off on purpose.
    • Elemental Magic: In his boss battle, Xenos calls upon multiple elemental attacks, using darkness, fire, ice, water, electricity, light and wind. Being one of the few enemies to inflict the status effects of frostbite, scorchrend, flashburn, stormlash and shadowblight, this implies that he is very skilled at using the different elements to his advantage due to them not being resisted by any adventurer, with only the strongest magic users being able to use such afflictions. He can also summon miniature black holes and in his first phase, he will prepare an elemental attack that, if not stopped in time, one-shots the whole party.

Trivia[]

  • Xenos' gender is somewhat disputed, as they are both referred to as gender neutral and masculine in equal measure. For now they are referred to with both masculine and gender neutral pronouns.
  • Several members of the Dragalia Lost community have made fun of Xenos's eyes due to their color being very similar to that of a regular pair of Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons.
  • With their species and Lily's both being listed as ??? in their Who's Who profiles, some fans of Dragalia have joked that Lily could be a relative of Xenos despite her canonically being a Crystalian in other Cygames games, much unlike Xenos.
  • Xenos may be one of the strongest Nintendo villains ever created, capable of erasing multiple dimensions and alternate realities even when weakened, as well as creating new ones on a whim.
  • Xenos is also similar to Solaris from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Both are considered the most powerful villains in both the Nintendo and Sega franchises, both have the ability to control time (Solaris can change and manipulate time itself while Xenos can alter outcomes of certain possibilities) and both were split into different parts which began to take on wills of their own. They also destroyed their own multiverses at one point and their ultimate defeats lead to the creation of a new timeline. Incidentally both started out as benevolent entities but were corrupted by humanity’s avarice and corruption, though it's hinted that Xenos's "care" was always somewhat flawed.
  • All of Xenos's forms parallel his creations and other entities he has connections to:
    • His normal form, with its long white hair parallels his heart Mordecai, as well as Morsayati in his humanoid form. His large ahoge may also parallel Euden, who also sports one and in his Bondforged form has long hair.
    • His draconic second phase form parallels his pactwyrm the Origin, as well as Morsayati's demonic form with his draconic horns, wings and tail.
    • The giant vessel he pilots in his third phase mirrors the Archdemons (save for Iblis) and Archangels in their Heavenly Wings forms, bearing the same metallic sheen on some surfaces, a somewhat inorganic appearance and glowing eyes, as well as somewhat seeming bestial with their horns, claws and tails.
  • Xenos has the longest boss battle in all of Dragalia Lost, with most runs averaging 40+ minutes to complete thanks to his high health pool and mechanics.
  • While appearing for the shortest time (only 2.5 chapters), Xenos has had the biggest impact of all the main story antagonists of Dragalia Lost, thanks to manipulating events through his pawns to trigger Morsayati and Satan's revivals, as well as destroying the entire multiverse in a foiled attempt to make a perfect world.
