Oh Strider, you didn't really believe The Winds would allow you to survive, did you?
~ Xi Wang Mu

Xi Wang Mu is an antagonist in the Strider series. She debuted in the 2014 Strider video game as the 4th member and master of the Kuniang Martial Arts Team (known as "The Winds" or "The Four Winds" in this game).

Biography[]

Xi Wang Mu is the 4th member of the "Four Winds", and the master of the three assassin sisters having taught her all her techniques. A mysterious and very powerful martial artist, Xi Wang Mu has trained her martial arts to perfection and can emulate any weapon or technique thanks to her free form-changing knuckle guards, which allows her to create simulations of any weapon. Although a member of The Winds, she's rarely if ever seen fighting alongside her students, and as a result her presence in Kazakh City is unknown to the population and only spoken about in rumors. Xi Wang Mu serves Grandmaster Meio as one of his most loyal lieutenants.

In the 2014 Strider, Xi Wang Mu awaits within the Research Facility to fight Hiryu. Ambushing him on his quest, Xi Wang Mu leaves it clear that, besides being ordered to eliminate him, she plans on doing it to avenge her disciples, who are implied to have died at some point after Hiryu bested them. Xi Wang Mu unleashes a torrent of potent techniques using her weapon mimicry, as well as a massive vortex of energy generated from her body. In the end, however, Hiryu managed to strike her down, with a defeated Xi Wang Mu swearing he will eventually meet his end for opposing Meio.

Appearance[]

Xi Wang Mu is a tall, slender woman with a muscular build. She wears a black with gold outlines full body suit, covering her entire body head to toes, with white gloves and large upper leg protectors. She sports claw-like metallic shoulder pads and a head piece made up of many round red orbs sticking outwards from behind her head and large tube-like objects connected to her head's back by what appears to be cables, the tubes glowing light blue and sporting round bells at the end. She wears white high shoes with reverse heels. Her uniform sports a Ying-Yang symbol on the right side.

Her eyes are concealed by two red Chinese paper charms attached to her head gear, but in her defeat these are ripped apart revealing her to sport black sclera eyes with slit yellow irises.

Personality[]

Xi Wang Mu is mysterious and reserved, with little known about her background. She speaks in a regal and calm tone, daring her opponents into battle fully confident in her strength. Unlike her students, Xi Wang Mu never shows emotion and keeps her composure at all times, letting nothing affect her. A very spiritually-inclined fighter, Xi Wang Mu makes plenty of references to souls and the afterlife during battle. She displays devotion to Grandmaster Meio similar to Tong Pooh, fighting to achieve his desired world at the forefront and directly referring to herself as "the spear of a new world".

Xi Wang Mu also deeply cares for her students and treats them like her children, being angered at Hiryu for having caused their demise and clearly telling him that, despite his execution being a direct order from Meio, she was doing it specifically in the name of her students.

Skills and Abilities[]

Xi Wang Mu possess a formidable mastery of martial arts and knowledge of all melee weapons, having developed her technique by a deep study of all forms of martial arts. She completes this superhuman mastery with her form-changing knuckles, which allows her to freely adopt the form of any weapon to suit any possible battle situation. This is best noted in the way she perfectly imitates the styles and techniques of her students, being able to create imitations of each sister's personal weapon and perform identical copies of her more powerful attacks.

Said to hold "unimaginable power" within, Xi Wang Mu is also able to perform energy-based attacks based on Taoist techniques, being capable of unleashing a vortex of raw energy around herself, release powerful orbs surrounding her figure and transform herself into a panther-like energy being.
