The Xorda are the overarching antagonists of the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie Comics series. They are a powerful and warlike race of aliens who were responsible for almost destroying the human race and causing a global cataclysm that ultimately transformed Earth into Mobius and created the Mobian species - of which Sonic the Hedgehog is part of.
The Xorda are currently engaged in an intergalactic war with the Black Arms.
Behaviour[]
They posses a collective awareness, enabling all to experience what all other members of their species do. Given how they never speak of themselves in first person, only saying "The Xorda" rather than "I" or "We" and their identical appearance, it is likely that their species has no individuals and they function as a singular person. This would go a long way in explaining their behavior, if their species functions as one being, then it would only be logical that they would see the actions of one person to be the crime of the entire species, lacking the concept of individuality. This is not necessarily true, however, as several Xorda address their commander by the title.
The Xorda from all appearances are vengeful in the extreme, for the wrongful death of one of their members they are willing to not only kill the person or persons responsible, but all of that species, and every living thing on the planet, and any living thing that might happen to evolve and share traces of the offender's species DNA eons later. To date the Xorda have shown no empathy for any species except their own.
Appearance[]
The Xorda in general were purely aquatic in nature, as such their species possess numerous jellyfish-like attributes. Between twenty and thirty pink tentacles connected to a huge, purple "brain-sphere" with three gill-tubes on each side, two long fin-like flaps spanning across the membrane. A single, yellow eye is located between the two halves, seeing as it is never closed coupled with their aquatic nature they might not possess eyelids.
History[]
Attack on Earth[]
At some point in Earth's history, in or after 21st century, the Xorda sent an emissary to offer the humans of the planet an alliance. Unfortunately, the emissary was captured, killed and dissected by Dr. Ivan Kintobor. Outraged by this action, the Xorda bombarded the Earth with Gene Bombs with the intention of wiping out all life on the planet. Unbeknownst to them, some humans survived and either mutated into the species that would be called Overlanders or preserved themselves in hidden cities, such as Station Square. The bombs also led to the creation of a new humanoid species, Mobians. In the years to come, Earth eventually came to be known as Mobius, and Mobians became the dominant species.
Attack on Mobius[]
Thousands of years later, the Xorda learned of their failure to eradicate life on Earth as they spotted two spaceships housing Overlanders heading for the planet. Pursuing the ships, they arrived to the planet that was now called Mobians, and shared the story of the attack on Earth with its inhabitants. Despite Sally Acorn arguing with the Xorda that Mobians were an entirely separate species from humans and had nothing to do with their grudge against humanity, the aliens still expressed their intentions to finish what they started, due to Mobians possessing remnants of human DNA.
In the face of a new threat, all of Mobius had to unite, and thus Dr. Eggman and Sonic the Hedgehog combined their efforts to defeat the aliens with the help of Giga-Bot Prime, created by Eggman but powered by Sonic. While the Xorda warship was knocked away by the robot, they revealed their trump card - the Quantum Dial, a device that would create a black hole powerful enough to destroy not just Mobius, but the entire solar system. The Dial was protected by a force that caused any construct, such as missiles and robots, to fall apart when approaching them, and thus presumed to be invincible. Luckily, Mobius was saved when Knuckles destroyed the weapon's defenses and bought Sonic time to attack it. The Quantum Dial was destroyed, and Sonic was presumed dead due to disappearing right after destroying it, but the Xorda were unaware of it.
War with the Black Arms[]
Some time after Sonic's return to Mobius, the Xorda became engaged in intergalactic warfare with the Black Arms, another warmongering species, over their conflicting goals, with the Black Arms seeing the population of Mobius as a food source and the Xorda seeking to exterminate it. The war prevented either race's return to Mobius. Eventually, the Chaos Emeralds from the Xorda's homeworld were drawn to Mobius by A.D.A.M. to further his goals.

Trivia[]
- The Xorda's name was once mistakenly spelled as "Zorda".
- The war between the Xorda and the Black Arms served as a means of introducing the Black Arms into the comics continuity, while also explaining why they haven't arrived on Mobius yet. Ian Flynn explained that he was awaiting approval from Sega for the Black Arms to defeat the Xorda. However, the continuity reboot that followed the Worlds Collide crossover appears to have removed the Xorda from the series entirely, with the Black Arms arriving at Sonic's World without interference only to be defeated.
