~ Taubman's villainous breakdown and his famous dialogue. |
Lieutenant Colonel Yakov Taubman is one of the main antagonists of Metro Exodus, serving as the main antagonist of the Moscow chapter.
He is the captain of a Hanza train cruiser, which was tasked with capturing the Aurora and her crew, which included Miller, after Artyom and Anna's role in the destruction of the radio jammers quickly came to light.
Background[]
Past[]
The sole journal entry that mentions Yakov Taubman is one labelled "Official Letter." Hanza's Special Mobile Strike Force department is under his leadership, and he works out of a heavily fortified train known as a cruiser.
The commander has an outstanding operational history, according to the memo that was discovered, but the Hanza treasurer is unhappy with his flare for drama and frequent use of 7.62 military grade ammunition. The Strike Force was equipped with 6000 rounds of MGR before being sent to pursue the Aurora, but a scrawled note indicates that a significant portion of it had been taken by various members of the train crew.
Artyom approaches the front of the train, but only sees the Commander for a moment.
Metro Exodus[]
Following their breakout from the radio jammer station, Artyom, Anna and Yermak are apprehended by a joint task force of Hanza and Order soldiers, led by Colonel Miller. Miller chooses to depart Moscow as the incident becomes clear because he worries about the Invisible Watchers' retaliation. A cruiser has been sent, and Yermak informs the crew that nearby fog horns can be heard.
The cruiser fires a number of warning shots as it approaches the Aurora, one of which hits Alyosha in the arm. Artyom is offered by Miller to board the train and detonate explosives inside the furnace.
Taubman is heard threatening the crew over the loudspeaker and admonishing them to come to a complete stop or else he will open fire. Miller's allegation that the commander's brakes are in poor condition causes the vehicle to stall. On the other hand, Taubman will open fire and start a rant at Miller if Artyom is seen on the train.
Taubman locks himself in the driver's compartment once Artyom gets to the front of the train, and Artyom causes an explosion that kills Taubman shortly after.
Personality[]
Yakov shows to have an antagonistic disdain, particularly Miller, referring to him as a "damn cripple" multiple times, and stating that he would take pleasure in killing Miller, his daughter, and his crew. This demonstrates his extreme animosity against "traitors."
