~ Yami to the player |
Yami is a major antagonist in Doodle World. Alike his underling Inari, he is not entirely malicious towards the player, however given that his main goal is to acquire as many keys as he can for DoodleCo. his goals run in opposition to our plans to save the world from extinction. He is a crime boss of a group of former assassins turned ninja thieves named the Shadow Clan that seeks any method to keep them thriving in the modern era. As a result, he sold his clan to DoodleCo. as a last resort to keep them supported enough to survive and became an Executive of their company, assisting them with winning the Key Hunt.
Biography[]
Yami became the leader of the Shadow Clan at some point prior to the events of the game. It was once a group of assassins that carry out missions, however they became a group of master thieves instead. However, the Shadow Clan was struggling in the modern era and needed some funding to survive. As a result, Yami sold his clan to DoodleCo. and became one of their executives. His top member, Kaze disagreed with the changes to the clan and defected along with several other members of the Shadow Clan.
DoodleCo. eventually became interested in finding all the keys and created a competition on who can get the most keys in the public eyes. In their inner circle, this meant whoever gets more keys than others have a good chance at getting promoted. As an executive, Yami became interested in the keys as well and sent Inari on foot missions to aid in his goals. Eventually, Yami sent her on a mission to steal the Stone Key from the Doodle Museum of History and became successful. As a result, Yami was promoted above Ellen for their success in acquiring the key.
However, Kaze wanted to challenge Yami's position as executive in order to try to usurp him as leader of the Shadow Clan. Because of this, Kaze planned to invade Icyridge in order to steal the Frigid Key from Anna. Knowing the protagonist would try to stop him, Yami became curious of them and decided this time he wanted to go on the field mission as well to investigate them. Inari snuck in as a fake guard and made a deal with them to tell them information that would help them stop Kaze in exchange of letting Yami observe the protagonist battling her. After the protagonist won, Yami was eager to battle them, but was stopped by Desmond who knew the protagonist couldn't beat him and wanted to focus on the mission instead. As a result, Yami wanted to leave them to their devices as they moved forward with their plan to stop Kaze. After everything was said and done, before Kaze could be sent to the dungeon Yami stopped Captain Silvier from processing his incarceration. Instead, Yami made a deal with Captain Silvier to instead hold him under his custody so he could punish him himself. Not wanting this, Kaze attempted to plead to be sent to the dungeon instead, however Captain Silvier realized that Yami's punishment might be more suitable instead and agreed to his demands. With this, Yami and Inari sent Kaze away to his fate while Inari was promoted to his right-hand woman.
Personality[]
Yami is someone who operates from the backlines while he sends his shinobis out on their field missions. In spite of his elderly age, Yami is still energetic and up for a challenge when he sees one when he's out on the field on rare occasions. He values a good fight over prioritizing his missions and it's a trait that's shared amongst the rest of his peers in the Shadow Clan. He's also misogynistic, not seeing potential in Inari due to her being a woman, but ultimately still giving her a chance given that she's truly the best he got to work with.
Trivia[]
- Yami's mask is based of the Tengu.
