Yanrock is a secondary antagonist from Fantasy Wars, Elven Legacy:Siege. He was a powerful leader and thane of the dwarves of Tersh and was the elder brother of Dwarnrock.
Biography[]
Yanrock was the leader of his clan who also had a younger brother, Dwarnrock. Unlike him, however, he was hostile, belligerent and angrier, he didn't like humans, nor green-skins like orcs or goblins, nor elves. At the same time, he did not want unnecessary wars, so he tried to ensure that his clan remained neutral and did not interfere in the conflicts of the outside world.
The dwarven territories first came under serious attack in the autumn-winter of 633 a. M. v., when Ugraum Grableg and his right-hand, Besargar attacked the dwarven mines not far from the north-eastern lands of Tersh with the remaining forces of the Hordes of the Verks Wastes. Yanrock did not take part in the conflict, but his brother Dwarnrock did, who was first defeated by Ugraum, but in the summer of 634 a. M. v, returned with a stronger army and defeated the orcs, killing Besargar in a duel during the battle. In the autumn of 634 a. M. v., Dwarnrock went to the land of Dayaran-iya, where the Great Tree of the elves was, to help Teya stop Sagittel and Gylven in their plans, but he and all his dwarves fell in the battles. Yanrock was angry, he believed that his brother deserved to die, because he was too much on the side of the elves and wanted to help them, but at the same time, deep down, he was very broken and wanted to take bloody revenge for him.
In the summer of 636 a. M. v, however, a new war spread to the territories of the dwarves, when Sagittel, who was now the leader of the exiled elves, managed to obtain the Stones of Foundtaion, some of which were with the dwarves, but he did not want an open war against them, but wanted to incite them against the humans. He paid off mercenaries to attack dwarven territories while a spearmen unit cast a spell on themselves that caused nearby dwarven soldiers to attack them. Meanwhile, Sagittel, the outcasts and the captain of the mercenaries, rushed forward together and since the dwarves concentrated more of their forces on the mercenaries, they could only show minimal effort against the elves. They captured the castle of Notodden, and then besieged and captured the much larger castle of Vestkogen, where Sagittel killed the captain of the mercenaries and left the body as evidence for the dwarves. The mercenaries did not know about the death of their leader and surprisingly defeated the dwarven soldiers and captured the castle of Melstrand. Then Sagittel captured the last dwarven castle, Konnerud, where he found one of the stones at the Sacred Altar. Yanrock learned of the incident only later and personally went to Konnerud Castle with an army in the summer of 636 a M. v. While he remained at the altar, many of his soldiers spread out into the other areas to watch for another possible attack. An army of hu,mas arrived in the area, led by a notorious ranger, Cornelius, and his companion, Captain Adrian and the were the members of the Order of Ticsus. As soon as the dwarves saw them, they immediately attacked their camp from several directions, but were defeated, and after that the forces of Ticsus set out, while Cornelius separated from the army and blew up one of the dwarven factories, which was built in a cave. Upon the explosion, many dwarven soldiers rushed to the cave, while Yanrock could only surround himself with mobile fortresses and crossbowmen, when the enemy attacked him. The defenses were eventually breached, killed by the dwarves, and Yanrock was wounded by Cornelius and believed to be dead, unaware that this was the last straw for him.
The thane was furious and decided it was time to finally unleash his hatred, avenge his brother's death and punish the humans and elves. He gathered another army which, together with his right-hand, Rangrog, set out to begin his campaign of wrath. They arrived in the eastern part of Tersh, where Ranrog said that they had found the mercenaries who had attacked them and robbed the castles of Melstrand and Vestkogen, he also said that a part of the dwarven army would attack from the east, so they would not be able to avoid the ambush from several directions. Before the attack, Yanrock ordered that a prisoner be taken to find out from him who had hired them, and that the others be killed. The dwarven attack took the mercenaries by surprise, and they gradually thinned out and eventually all but one swordsman was killed, while dwarven casualties were minimal. After the fight, Yanrock questioned him, and the swordsman told him that they were hired by Laridian mages, who were members of a cult, and that they and the mercenaries also worked for the elves. He then gave the prisoner a quick death and killed him with his hammer, then became upset because he believed the elves wanted to ruined him as they did his brother, but he decided that he and his warriors would use their hammers to destroy them and the dark souls of the Laridian mages. Yanrock then advanced further west with his army and in the autumn of 636 a. M. v., he captured one of Sagittel's elven castles, which he had created with the power of the Stones of Foundation. After that, he fought against the forces of the Inquisition and Ticsus, but in the final battle he was seriously injured and defeated, but he was able to retreat in time with his remaining soldiers. Rangor and most of his soldiers died, but this did not calm his hatred and he wanted even more revenge, this time only against humans.
Yanrock did not accept defeat and wanted revenge for losing twice to the humans in battle. However, he did not personally participate in the new attack, but instead set a trap that worked perfectly. The forces of Ticsus and the Inquisition were exhausted and did not expect an attack after defeating the orcs and Sagittel's outcast elves, which was a big mistake, as the dwarves were very numerous. The four commanders were taken to separate castles, and then taken weekly to a place where they were all interrogated. Cornelius and Karel were not abused, but Adrian was sometimes abused, which made him limp sometimes, and in the walls of the cell of Morcius, runes were placed that disturbed him in his sleep, so he became increasingly pale. It is possible that Yanrock ordered these tortures, as he was exclusively the supporter of brutality, but unexpectedly, after two months, Cornelius broke out of prison, killed the guards and set out to free his companions. First he traveled to the mines of Attenscheid, from where he freed Morcius, then together they went to Remscheid Castle, where they freed Adrian and some prisoners who also looted a catapult. After that, the three heroes traveled to castle of Lindensheid, where they freed Sir Karel, and then together they found a Forge Sanctuary where they found their weapons and were ready to face the dwarves, who were already looking for them with great forces. All four of them wanted to reach the walls that protected the exit in the valley, and along the way they killed many dwarves and finally managed to get out alive. Yanrock and his clan did not want to give up, but hunted for the four heroes, who also did not give up but wanted to get home at all costs, but in the end it was not revealed what was the end of the conflict between them.
Personality[]
Yanrock was the complete opposite of Dwarnrock. He was a very hot-tempered, wrathful, vengeful, vindictive and iron-fisted warlord who considered everyone who was not a dwarf his enemy. He was hostile to everyone, he didn't like humans and orcs, but he especially hated elves, because he thought it was because of them that his brother went astray and they ruined him. He thought that Dwarnrock deserved to die for being so naive, but at the same time it seems that he loved him and was deeply hurt him by his death, because only then did he feel a great hatred for the elves. In battle, he was merciless, aggressive, cold-blooded and bloodthirsty, he never gave his opponents mercy or an opportunity to surrender, he was only satisfied with their complete destruction. He almost never showed mercy to the prisoners of war either, he executed them without exception, and when he received the necessary information, he ordered the murders, in which he also participated. On the other hand, he was patient and helpful with his own soldiers, led them well and tried to show them that he was a reliable and strong leader. It is clear from his battles and actions that Yanrock did not believe in peace and negotiations, his only solution was the complete defeat and destruction of the enemy.
Powers and abilities[]
Like his brother, Yanrock was a strong, skilled and dangerous warrior. Armed with a hammer, a thick shield, and fighting in full armor, he was able to single-handedly defeat dozens of enemy soldiers with ease. He was also a talented and great strategist, always able to inflict unpleasant or painful losses on his enemies, whether he won or lost.
