Yelena Belova, also known as Crimson Widow, is a supporting antagonist of Avengers Assemble. First appearing as a major antagonist in Seasons 3 and 4. She is an agent of HYDRA as well as the archenemy of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.

She was voiced by Julie Nathanson.

Biography[]

She first appeared in Season 3 Episode 14, Seeing Double. She electrifies and captures the Hulk, Turning him into Banner while he mutters "Widow?" Before being unconscious. She is then seen again with Baron Wolfgang von Strucker explaining how she successfully took down the Hulk which led to Natasha Romanoff entering in time to encounter her. When Strucker reveals that Yelena was also a Black Widow and that he rebuilt the red room program horrifies Widow as the two engage in combat. Eventually, Natasha successfully pins Yelena down while commanding Strucker to turn off the machine that was torturing Bruce Banner; However Yelena breaks the glass which causes all three to fall into the second base. Widow notices and tries to pull the wires from the machine until Yelena attacked and Restrained her.

Just then, Iron Man and Captain America arrive to save Widow and Hulk. Strucker tells Yelena to surrender. Belova says She captured Natasha and Strucker Cruelly responds by saying she has nothing. Natasha tells Yelena that even though she was well trained, there are only things she learns from experience. Widow escapes and points her Baton at Yelena. However as The hulk arises, he becomes the Winter Hulk due to Strucker activating the Winter Soldier program which horrifies Cap, Widow and Stark. Yelena taunts Natasha as her baton begins to lose power and the three Avengers witness the terrible transformation.

When Captain America and Black Widow try to stop the brainwashed Hulk, Yelena betrays Strucker and uses his device to control the Hulk. When he nearly attacks Widow, Belova commands him to stop, destroy the Hydra Facility and spare No-one while she and Natasha duel. Only for Steve Rogers and Tony Stark to stop her once more before the two go to stop the Winter Hulk. Belova chases Natasha after that.

When Natasha enters The Crimson Widow's room, She sees a photo of a young Yelena and her family, throws it at her stomach and tells her what her family would think and by extension Exposing her before she could attack Romanoff. She traps Natasha and reveals Zombie Widow Soldiers horrifying the latter. Once Again Belova taunts and insults Natasha as her Widows attack but luckily she throws one of the clones at her, turns off the device that easily shuts off the other Widows and the two Widows clash one final time.

During the finale, Natasha tells Yelena that a Widow never stops learning, adapting and fighting. Additionally, Natasha gains the upper hand and pins her down. However she tells Natasha that she can't reason with her and tries to attack her with her Baton. Retreating as a result and is never seen again as Natasha looks around. Meanwhile, Black Widow helps Steve and Tony get the Hulk to regain control from the Winter Soldier program and luckily they were successful.
