Yeongsuk Shim is a minor antagonist in the survival horror web-manwha, Forest of Humans, created by Junho Hwang.
She is one of the ten death row convicts chosen to be experimented on at the facility, before she is broken out and attempts to escape.
Personality[]
Due to her having the least amount of screen time, Yeongsuk has the least dynamic characterization of the convicts. According to her own testament, she murdered her patients to relive them of their pain as they were constantly strapped to tubes and machines and were suffering, claiming she “cared for them than anyone else.”
When freed from imprisonment, she does show to be smiling widely after they all murdered the staff and she attempts to find her way into helping Junho and Hyeseon, before she is unceremoniously killed off by them.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Yeongshuk’s life except she was a nurse who took care of her patients, loving to see them smile. She was arrested for murdering 3 of them, with a suspected 43 other patients and was placed in death row, where she was chosen, alongside 9 others to be held in an facility where they Would be experimented on before executed. During her interview she justified her actions, saying she was giving mercy to her patients and that she cared for them more than anyone else did.
She was freed, alongside the other convicts, apart from Gihwan Kang, by Hyeseon Kim, and they slaughter the staff, with Yeongshuk placing her hands on her hips as she was smugly smiling.
When the convicts found Bohyeon’s body and realize that Jaejun betrayed them, Junho Park had everyone seperated, with Yeongshuk with him and Hyeseon. Junho reveals his intentions to have everyone murdered and asks Hyeseon to join him. Yeongshuk asks whether he is gonna asks for her to join and he rejects her because she’s “ugly” before Junho brutally bashes her head in offscreen, with her body being found later on.

- She has the least amount of screentime from all the other convicts in the story. She is also the least malevolent of the convicts.
