Yhoundeh, also known as The Elk-Goddess, is an Outer Goddess in the expanded Cthulhu Mythos.
Biography[]
Yhoundeh is the spawn of the androgyne animal Archetype Zyhumé and the spouse of Nyarlathotep.
The deity was worshiped by the Hyperborean civilization in their waning days. Her priests banned the worship of Tsathoggua, the previous deity worshiped by the Hyperboreans, and started to punish any heretics. Over time, the priests fell, and the Hyperboreans returned to worship the Toad God.
Trivia[]
- Yhoundeh was not a creation by Lovecraft, but an outside addition by Clark Ashton Smith in his story known as "The Door to Saturn", which was part of the Hyperborean cycle.
