Time for a quiz! Answer my question! Who's gonna win this battle? Correct!
~ Yokai Mataneko's final words before his death.

Yokai Mataneko was a stopwatch/cat-themed Yokai that served the Kibaoni Army Corps. He served as a minor antagonist in Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, being the main antagonist of the 26th episode and a minor antagonist in the 47th and final episode.

He was voiced by Tomokazu Seki.

Biography[]

Yokai Mataneko is the little brother of Yokai Nekomata though, unlike Yokai Nekomata, Yokai Mataneko lacks his ability to travel through time. He attempts to get revenge against the Ninningers but is ultimately foiled so he enlarges himself with Kyuemon Izayoi's stolen mallet but also accidentally enlarges Takaharu in Chotezu Mode who kills him with the Transcendental Shuriken Slash.

Youkai Yuki-Onna is among the ten Yokai who appear alongside Kyuemon and the Western Yokai Wolf Man to Kinji in his vision after he is transformed into a reincarnation of the Wolf Man, all bearing his face. When Kinji overcomes his fear and doubt, and thus his Yokai side, he uses the Demon Sword Urasame to vanquish all the illusionary Yokai and return to the real world.

Youkai Mataneko is later among the five Youkai (himself, Yokai Yamawarawa, Super Advanced Yokai Shuten-Douji, Yokai Kasha and Yokai Yuki-Onna) resurrected as giants by Kyuemon when he uses the End Shuriken to begin reshaping the world. Although the effect also de-powers the Ninningers, Fuuka and Nagi fight on regardless and manage to kill Mataneko and Shuten-Douji with a single slash.
