Yokai Yamabiko, also known as False Echo Yamabiko, is a payphone/monkey-themed monster and a minor antagonist in Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, appearing as the main antagonist of Episode 14.
He was voiced by Masaki Terasoma, who'd previously voiced Condorugin and Dora Narcissus.
Biography[]
Yokai Yamabiko made his first appearance when Masakage Tsugomori infected a payphone with a cursed shuriken. He was tasked to steal the Transformation Nin Shurikens from the Ninningers to render them powerless. He manage to successfully trick Takaharu into giving him four Nin Shurikens. However, just before he could trick Fuuka to give him ShiroNinger's shuriken, he is discovered.
Discovering the trick, Fuuka and StarNinger tried to attack Yamabiko to regain the stolen shurikens. She'd manage to try and use the pitfall technique to grab back the Nin Shuriken, but she'd failed at it. However, she'd manage to fall into one, but used it as an opportunity to stake back the shurikens. After suiting up, the Ninningers begin the fight against Yamabiko, who used his mimicry to trick the team, managing to do so for all but Fuuka, who takes him out with her Mecha-Shift Star Sibling Strike technique.
However, thanks to Kyuemon Izayoi and their magic, Yokai Yamabiko was then enlarged, prompting the team to bring out their mechas to form Shurikenjin. Yamabiko used a powerful screech that made their mecha allies to stop in their tracks, but Wanmaru counters that with its high pitched howl, rendering Yamabiko's phone calls unavailable. With that done, they manage to form Shurikenjin as Bison King joins the giant fight as Yamabiko was then destroyed by both Shurikenjin: Splendid Slash and Bison Wild Buster.
Post-Mortem[]
Yamabiko was among the ten Yokai who appeared alongside Kyuemon Izayoi and the Western Yokai Wolf Man to Kinji in his vision after he had transformed into reincarnation of the Wolf Man, all bearing his face. When Kinji overcame his fear and doubt, and thus his Yokai side, he used the Demon Sword Urasame to vanquish all the illusionary Yokai and return to the real world.
Yamabiko's likeness appeared among a set of Yokai karuta cards assembled by Shurikenger for the Ninningers to analyze the Yokai they had defeated so far. Through the power of Yokai Fudagaeshi, Fuuka, having been made to accidentally pick the wrong card, was sent to a pocket dimension within Yamabiko's card, where she was forced to face him again. She was aided by Nagi, who followed her to the pocket dimension by deliberately picking the wrong card. Together, they destroyed Yamabiko with their combined High Schooler Violent Slash attack, thus freeing them from the karuta card.
