In every world, there is always racing. That is why we need fairness! Without fairness, people can't grow.
~ Yoma Hashimoto

Yoma Hashimoto is the main antagonist of the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan episode Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan - Episode 9: The Run. He is an up-and-coming model and a narcissist obsessed with developing his muscles, and the fitness rival of Rohan Kishibe. Eventually, his obsession with his body leads to him being possessed and becoming the Avatar of Hermes, granting him inhuman strength and abilities to perform athletic feats.

In the OVA for Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, he was voiced by Kōki Uchiyama in Japanese and Aleks Le in English. In the live-action TV series adaptation for Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, he was portrayed by Show Kasamatsu.

Biography[]

Yoma was once scouted by a model production agency due to his good looks while he was enjoying himself at Harajiku. He managed to have photos of him taken and published in a magazine, and he landed a minor role in a film. During the production, he could see two famous actors from a distance.

One day he was told by his manager to work out, as good poses and charisma were more important than sheer talent. Thus, Yoma began to develop his body by frequently visiting the Morioh Grand Hotel's gym. Here, he eventually met the mangaka Rohan Kishibe, who became his acquaintance and supposed "friendly" rival in a game. Said game was to run alongside each other on treadmills and try to pick up a small remote to disable one's treadmill after reaching a certain running speed.

Incidentally, Yoma's progress was remarkable, with his trainer and girlfriend Mika remarking how quickly his muscles developed. However, at some point, he was somehow possessed by Hermes, the god of fitness. Due to this, he began developing a narcissistic streak and became obsessed with exercising and improving his body. He also began crowding Mika's home with training equipment and fought with her over his protein rich-diet and obsession with fitness. He also scolded a deliveryman for ringing the doorbell three times at 7PM, when he wanted to sleep.

One day, Yoma's personal trainer was unavailable due to a client, which frustrated Yoma. He stole 270,000 from Mika's credit card to subscribe to an expensive training program, covering her entire apartment and the building with a bouldering set. Eventually, Mika broke up with him and told him to leave. At an undisclosed time, Yoma killed Mika, the deliveryman, and the other gym client, encasing their bodies in cement at various different places. His muscles began developing at a tremendous speed, eventually taking the shape of wings.

During one of his training sessions, he encountered Rohan again. Despite a previous loss at their game, Yoma tried to ignore him until the mangaka teased about his career. Upset at this, Yoma accepted Rohan's challenge. Exhibiting his exceptional body, Rohan began to lose confidence. While Rohan saw Yoma as simply a friendly rival, Yoma took their competition seriously. Eventually, Yoma ripped his shirt, revealing his exceptional body and causing Rohan to lose confidence.

Unexpectedly, Yoma threw a dumbbell at the window behind them, transforming their game into a life-and-death situation. Yoma stated that he wanted to settle their rivalry in a fair challenge, claiming that Rohan cheated in the last game. Yoma broke three of Rohan's fingers to prevent him from taking the remote. However, doing so allowed Rohan to turn Yoma into a book using his Stand Heaven's Door, finding out that Yoma is a serial killer.

When they finally reached the critical speed, both of them rushed to grab the remote, but Yoma was the one who grabbed it first. Though he claimed victory, Rohan had cheated and wrote a command into Yoma while he was turned into a book, making him point towards Rohan's machine instead of his own.

Yoma was then propelled backwards out of the building and failed to grab a ledge, menacingly muttering Rohan's name before falling out of view. Rohan did not look down the window, as he believed that Yoma likely grabbed onto a ledge and survived. Rohan then rushed out of the building, believing Yoma would come back for him.

Trivia[]

  • It is unknown if Hermes is truly a Stand, as it is very similar to one but is never referred to as or said to be a Stand. However, Yoma is able to see Stands as the Avatar of Hermes, making it highly likely that it is indeed a Stand whose name and effects have never been documented.
    • It also would be the first case of a Stand causing its owner to go insane and murderous.
      • He killed a delivery man simply because he inconvenienced him by delivering a package when Yoma was attempting to sleep early.
      • He killed his personal trainer's other client because it inconvenienced him by not being available to train Yoma when he wanted.
      • He killed his girlfriend after she told him they were through and to leave, because he stole her credit card to renovate the apartment into a workout area.
  • As Rohan never saw Yoma again, he likely and thankfully fell to his death. This would spare Rohan any attempts on his life and avenge the three victims as Yoma's hubris finally paid him the karma justly due.
