“ | Yoshimitsu, Master swordman. A true samurai warrior. | „ |
~ Kazuya Mishima to his father Heihachi about Yoshimitsu. |
Yoshimitsu is a minor antagonist in the 2010 live-action film Tekken. He is a mysterious samurai who enters in the King of Iron Fist Tournament and later works under Kazuya Mishima's services and was paid to kill the latter's biological son and main protagonist of the movie, Jin Kazama.
He was portrayed by Gary Ray Stearns.
Biography[]
Tekken[]
Prior to the movie, after governments and most of civilization were destroyed, eight corporations took power and divided up around the world. The biggest of them of all was the Tekken Corporation, which they control North America. Once a year, Heihachi Mishima, the chairman of the corporation, sponsors a competition the King of the Iron Fist tournament located in Tekken City, in which each fighters from the eight corporations battle until one is left standing and earns themselves a lifetime of stardom and wealth.
After Kazuya betrays his father Heihachi and takes over Tekken, he then rigs the next fight to have Jin against Yoshimitsu, but in a sword fight. During the battle, Yoshimitsu manages to break Jin's blade, but in return, the latter destroys the former's sword with a kick. The fight continues and Yoshimitsu gains the upper hand. Kazuya is satisfied with the ratings going higher, believing that death is exciting than violence. Yoshimitsu continues to beat Jin and about to kill him, Heihachi eliminates the Jackhammers and triggers the alarm, interrupting the fight. Once Jin remembers of his mother's teachings, he overpowered Yoshimitsu and defeats him with a blow to the head and winning the fight.
Appearance[]
Yoshimitsu's armor is similar to his default costume from the third game, especially his mask, a menacing helmet with the appearance of a demonic skeleton.
Personality[]
This Yoshimitsu is very much different from his mainstream counterpart, who is a kind, loyal, and benevolent cybernetic samurai who steals money from rich people and gives it to poor people. But here, he is a normal man in an elaborate samurai armor who serves under Kazuya's services for his own greed and possibly a sadist when he was ruthlessly beaten and preparing to kill Jin during their fight.
