“ | Mine has been a life of much shame. I can't even guess myself what it must be to live the life of a human being. | „ |
~ Yozo about feeling like he can't relate to humans, seeing himself as anything but human. Also his most famous quote. |
“ | I...I...I am a clown! I'm a clown. I lived a lie. Mine has been full of lies!! I played the clown all this time, it was to deceive others. As a result, I brought unfathomable misfortune to those around me. My lies drove my classmate Takeichi to suicide, I destroyed my relatives, those sisters!! The older killed by the younger......and I created an accursed child with the younger! I planned a suicide with the unfortunate cafe waitress, and I left her alone to die!! Deceived the innocent tobacco shop girl who knew no doubt...and I turned her into a paranoid wreck, jumping at shadows, pushing her to a death in madness. And the woman at the pharmacy! She was utterly blameless. I turned her into a pitch-black charred corpse!! They're all victims of my own clowning, I can not be forgiven for this. | „ |
~ Yozo expressing extreme guilt and admitting his clowning was all a fake and got people who loved him killed. |
