Yrel is a Draenei and was a main protagonist during the Alliance's side of the World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor. A kind and humble girl, she was freed from captivity by the player and would become a Paladin of The Light. Yrel fought against The Iron Horde and then The Burning Legion, being a stalwart and benevolent defender of Draenor.
Upon the player's return to the alternate Draenor years later, more Naaru arrived in the time since, and the once peaceful Draenei became fanatical zealots, turning into Lightbound. They began a crusade to spread the influence of The Light, doing so by force if needed and killing those who continued to resist, with Yrel herself being their leader, cementing herself as a genocidal fanatic all in the name of her religion.
Biography[]
Yrel was born on Draenor in an alternate timeline from the main universe, where Draenor was not destroyed and did not go on to become Outland. Garrosh Hellscream arrived to ensure that the Orcs did not take the blood of Mannoroth, and as such did not become corrupted by demonic power. However, the Orcs would still ultimately come to march on the warpath, the clans uniting and forming the Iron Horde. In time, Yrel would become captured and forced to work as a labor slave within a mine.
With the heroes arriving in this parallel universe, they would eventually find and free Yrel along with many others. She would return home to Shadowmoon Valley, where The Alliance set their base of operations in their campaign against the Iron Horde. Yrel would become friend and ally to the heroes of the Alliance, joining their campaign to liberate her homeland from the threat of the Shadowmoon Clan.
Yrel would ultimately survive the entire campaign, and was there in person to see the defeat and death of the dreaded Archimonde, Draenor at last being saved from the Burning Legion. However, after the heroes returned to their reality to deal with the threat of Gul'dan, a great deal of time would pass on this alternate Draenor, and in time, the once kind and caring girl would go on to become a fanatical warrior in the name of her faith, leading a fanatic organization called ''Lightbound'' devoted to the Light to crush all those who rejected the ways of The Light.
Personality[]
Yrel was a very friendly and kind young (seemingly, as Draenei age very differently from the other races) woman. Even when captured and enslaved by the Iron Horde, she held onto her optimism, and although a little timid at first, would go on to find true strength and courage within herself. A firm believer in the ways of her people, she opposed violence whenever it could be avoided, but her loyalty and fortitude made her a formidable defender of good.
In the decades that had passed since the defeat of the Legion in this alternate universe though, the arrival of more Naaru saw a drastic change in the girl who was once a devoted ally to the heroes. While still friendly on the outside, Yrel became a ruthless extremist in the name of The Lightbound. She would offer all those who opposed this regime a choice, to at least give some semblance of choice in free will. She would welcome those who joined their cause, but to those who resisted, Yrel was a maniacal zealot who crushed everyone in her path, going so far as to forcefully convert the ones who rejected the Light. Thousands fell by her hand and deeds, and the friendly face from Karabor became a harbinger of violence and pain.
