| ~ Shimizu explaining to Aiko why he betrayed them. |
Yukitoshi Shimizu is a minor antagonist in the Japanese web-turned-light novel, manga and anime franchise Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest. He was a member of Aiko's defense squad until he betrayed them to join Garland in order to become a "Hero" at the eyes of the demons.
Personality[]
Shimizu is an isolated and ignorant coward who doesn't have friends. He doesn't cares for his teacher or anyone of his classmates. He wants to kill his sensei and all of his classmates to destroy Heiligh Kingdom in order to become a "Hero" at the eyes of Garland and all demons. While holding his teacher hostage, he demanded Hajime to give him his guns only for the latter to refuse and Shimizu ending up being shot by an unknown assailant, later revealed to be a demon sent there alongside Shimizu by Garland, who manages to escape, but ends up losing his left arm in the process. While dying, he begs Hajime to spare his life so that he’ll do what he says, only for Hajime to ignore and coldly kill him.
In his past, Yukitoshi was an otaku. However, he had a miserable life when he was bullied back at junior high school for unknown reasons.
History[]
Shimizu was one of the members of the class teleported to the world of Tortus to be a member of the Hero's Party, and given the power of Dark Magic. Training for some time, the class broke apart after one of their classmates, Hajime, was blown off into the depths of the Great Orcus Labyrinth while training, courtesy of another classmate Daisuke Hiyama. The teacher, Aiko Hatayama, who was never interested in fighting, went off to help others as she was given an advanced farming ability. A small group of students, Shimizu included, decided to join her as an Ai-Chan Defense Force. Shimizu would be later approached by a demon, Reiss, and offered him a seat of power in the Demon Kingdom if he would kill Aiko, being her farming abilities were seen as goddess level powerful, and sought out by everyone.
That was all Shimizu needed to hear. He rounded up an army of 60,000 monsters and was able to cast a mind control spell on the dragon beastman Tio Klarus to help with his plan to level the nearby city. While under his spell, Tio killed the adventurer party belonging to Will Cudeta, the son of a local Duke, with Will being the sole survivor. Hajime was contracted by the Adventures Guild into helping find Will and ran into the Ai-Chan Defense Force. With their help, Hajime was able to find Will, and defeat Tio, who quickly became loyal to Hajime after she was penetrated by his Pile Bunker weapon. Tio then revealed the existence of Shimizu's army, however she had no knowledge of his identity.
With the Defense Force's help, Hajime and his party was able to evacuate the village in time, and defeated the army. Shimizu was defeated, and his identity revealed, much to Aiko's shock. He gleefully revealed he held no loyalty to the class, or humanity in general. It was here, Reiss returned and shot off Shimizu's arm from a great distance away. Dying, Shimizu tried to play innocent, and swear loyalty to Hajime, who instead killed him, much to Aiko's shock. As Hajime's party was retuning Will, Yue realizes that Reiss initially was targeting Aiko, and that Hajime killed Shimizu to protect his teacher's feelings. While Hajime confirmed this, it was implied that Aiko knew this as well.
Trivia[]
- Yukitoshi is one of the four (formerly five) of the classmates (except for Kaori Shirasaki who was revived) who died (along with Reichi Kondou, Daisuke Hiyama and Eri Nakamura).
- Furthermore, he was one of the three classmates who were killed by Hajime Nagumo, the others being Reichi Kondou and Daisuke Hiyama (although the other two were indirectly killed by him, the first (who has already killed and reanimated by another classmate as a zombie) was gunned down, and the second was first brutally beaten up and butchered as then eaten alive by monsters).
