Zachary Kendall is the main antagonist of the 1974 Spanish giallo film The Fish with the Eyes of Gold. Kendall is an artist who was scarred after his father Selwyn killed his mother and the trauma scarred him for life. When Kendall witnessed male escort Marco murder Hildegard Aaron, Kendall flashed back, identified with the aggressor, and started a killing spree of his own.
Biography[]
Zachary was born in New Mexico and watched his father Selwyn kill his mother when he was a boy. Zachary suppressed the trauma for years, grew up to become an artist, and married a woman named Virginia. When male escort Marco, killed client Hildegard Aaron to cover the fact he was stealing from her, Kendall witnessed it. The scar of his mother's murder being reopened and the memories flooding back in, Zachary identified with the aggressor and started his own killing spree under the personality on Selwyn.
Police and civilians alike figured all murders to be by the same killer, especially since Marco is one of the four people Zachary killed, having choked him to death with wire. In a final confrontation, Zachary was revealed to have been the killer, but he was killed to stop the spree and the truth behind his motives were revealed.
