~ The Zangi Brothers presents themselves |
The Zangi Brothers are a terrorists brother duo and the main antagonists of the Strider Hiryu manga's special chapter, Strider Hiryu Gaiden.
Biography[]
The Zangi Brothers is a team of siblings known for their skills in battle and the viciousness they display during them. They are the leaders of a self-proclaimed terrorist cell known as the Phantom Unit. The younger brother is named Aaron, and is a giant man who fights with a Katana tailor-made to his size, while the older brother is a normal-sized man, a more agile and tactical fighter that uses a two-headed rope dart as his weapon.
Following the imprisonment of one of the Phantom Unit's members, the Zangi Brothers proceed to kidnap one of the leading authorities in nuclear fusion, Dr. J. Hogan, and demand the release of their man in exchange for the doctor's life. A month after that, the Striders are hired to rescue Hogan and eliminate the group, with Hiryu assigned the mission. Hiryu breaks into the Phantom Unit's camp and starts killing the terrorists indiscriminately. Aaron comes forth to confront him over this assault, holding Hogan on his giant hand. Despite threats that he'd kill Hogan if Hiryu doesn't drop his weapon, he realizes Hiryu is not going to budge and admits defeat, claiming he is well aware of the Striders' fabled speed and skills and that he is outclassed. He drops the doctor and Hiryu quickly tells him to get behind him.
To Hiryu's surprise, however, Dr. Hogan suddenly springs an attack on him, injuring one of his arms with a knife. The doctor reveals himself to be the older Zangi brother in disguise, and proceeds to capture Hiryu with his rope dart. Unaffected, Hiryu simply plants his Cypher on the ground. The older Zangi realizes Hiryu's plan to use the water spilled all over the ground to electrocute them all, and while he jumps away it is too late for Aaron and the other terrorists, who are fried by a powerful discharge of the Cypher. Aaron survives, although with heavy burns in his body and almost all his hair gone.
Enraged, Aaron charges towards Hiryu and he jumps to avoid the attack. He is suddenly surprised by the older brother, who remained hidden in Aaron's back and had a gun ready to attack. Hiryu is shot square in the chest and the brothers celebrate their victory, only for Hiryu to suddenly throw his Climb Sickle at them, hitting the older brother in the forehead and instantly killing him. Aaron is even more furious at Hiryu and charges to terminate him, but he jumps over him against and comes down on the giant man with his Cypher, striking him vertically across his body, ending his life.
Appearance[]
Aaron is a massive human, a giant that looks to be 3 or 4 times the size of Hiryu, towering over every other person in the area. He has a muscular build and sports long, spiky black hair pointing up, bushy brows and a scar across his face. He wears camo-patterned pants with a sash and boots, and stands bare-chested with only a jacket covering him.
The older brother is a normal-sized man with a muscular build, spiky black hair rising up at both ends resembling horns, a pointed nose and ears, and shark-like tooth. He wears camo-patterned pants with a belt and boots, as well as a black sleeve-less shirt with a small tattered black cape over his shoulders. In his Hogan disguise he presumably resembles the doctor, an old bearded man with round glasses in a scientist lab coat.
Personality[]
Aaron is brutish and quick-tempered, he is easy to anger and has a tendency to rush in to fight without thinking. He is arrogant and belittle others, but he is capable of holding himself back when he is part of his brother's strategies, such as when he feigned defeat when Hiryu refused to give up his weapon. He displays no fighting finesse at all, simply running with his katana and trying to strike at his targets to kill them in one swing. He is simple-minded and prefers to deliver the final blow once his opponents are disabled/captured by his brother.
The older brother is a lot calmer and intelligent in comparison. He has good observation skills, being able to determine Hiryu's strategy by looking at his surroundings. He seems to prefer underhanded tactics and tricks over a direct confrontation, crafting plots to catch enemies off-guard, and will account for anything in his surroundings to get an advantage over his enemies. He plans his moves carefully and in consideration of his enemies' skills, even using his brother's massive frame as a way to hide and prepare sneak attacks. He also has a bit of a sadistic side, and seems to enjoy injuring and playing with his opponents before his brother kills them.
Skills and Abilities[]
The Zangi Brothers have a reputation for being a dangerous sibling team, being known both for their fighting skills (which are compared to A Class Striders, themselves having skilsl comparable to an entire Special Forces team). In battle they compliment each other, with the older brother planning strategies and his brother executing enemies via his massive strength.
As the less intelligent of the two, Aaron throws caution aside and tends to rush in to strike with his katana, letting his giant size and musculature, as well as his decent speed despite his size, to overwhelm and take out his targets. Given his impetuos and easy-to-anger nature, this also lends him to blindly rush at his opponents without much thought as well. Thanks to his large frame, Aaron has higher resistant to punishment than normal humans, and was able to survive an electric discharge strong enough to kill his men. Albeit not without suffering extensive burnt damage to his body and losing almost all his hair, this didn't impede or stop him in the slightest.
The older brother is a lot more tactical in his approach to battles, as well as a fast thinker that analyzes the situation and takes quick action accordingly. He comes up with the plans for the duo during fight, and can easily adapt to any situation taking advantage of anything in the vicinity to strike unimpeded or by surprise. He is also a master of disguise, adopting the form of others in such a way he was able to fool even Hiryu. Not a slouch in fighting terms either, the older brother is very agile and quick of movement, as well as an expert in the handling of his rope dart which he can use to both ensnare and stab people at the same time.
