Zavok is a major antagonist in Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, specifically serving as one of the two main antagonists (alongside Dr. Eggman) of the 2013 platform game Sonic Lost World, one of the secondary antagonists (alongside Metal Sonic) of Team Sonic Racing, a major antagonist in the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics, and the deuteragonist of the Bad Guys comic miniseries.
He is a Zeti who is the leader of his entire race, and the former leader of the Deadly Six. Zavok was taken under Master Zik's wings as the elderly Zeti's last disciple. Under Zik's tutelage, Zavok was taught in martial arts and became quite powerful. Many years ago, Zavok was brought into the Deadly Six when Master Zik formed the group, with Zavok's skills making him well-suited for the position as their leader.
He was voiced by Travis Willingham in Sonic Lost World and Sonic Forces, and by Patrick Seitz (who also voiced Kunzite in the Viz Dub of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal) in Team Sonic Racing onwards in English and by Jōji Nakata in Japanese.
Zavok is a Zeti from an unknown habitat, he has a very stocky and muscular physique. His skin is mostly red. His lower torso, horns, head, shoulder spikes, and spiked wristbands are black, while his nails, and ponytail are cyan. He has purple eyes and yellow sclera.

Zavok is the cruel leader of the Deadly Six. Like all Zetis, Zavok has the power to control machines with his mind but he is more powerful than the rest of the Six. Zavok was malicious, brutal, cunning, sadistic, ruthless, vengeful and intimidating.
As revealed in the game, he is an omnicidal maniac as he wished to destroy an entire world so he and the Six could grow even more powerful. He has an antisocial personality and is very vicious, mocking Sonic over his friend Tails being transformed into a robot. He was vengeful as well destroying an entire world only to spite his captor, Dr. Eggman. Zavok has shown to be very intelligent, able to recognize that Sonic would have been more valuable to him as an ally and attempted to kidnap the hedgehog so they could turn him into a robot. He is manipulative as shown when he tricked Zeena into going after Sonic using compliments and flattery.
He wasn't above using his teammates as tools, at least for his own personal goal as when he sent Zazz to destroy the hedgehog and didn't care if he won or lost as long as he learnt about his enemy and even beats his team. The only person Zavok showed respect towards was Master Zik who had trained him. He can be very insulting as well, calling Dr. Eggman "a fat fool" and when they abducted Tails he was outraged and insulted them (except for Master Zik). He can also be sarcastic at times, when overlooking Dr. Eggman's Badnik factory he mockingly calls him "a mighty conqueror."
Powers and Abilities[]
Super Speed: Zavok can travel at incredible speeds to surprise and strike his enemies.
Flight: Zavok can jump into the air and fly through the air despite having no wings or apparent form of propulsion.
Skilled Fighter: Zavok is a very skilled fighter, being able to match and even defeat Sonic in single combat.
Energy Beams: Zavok can fire a red energy beam from his mouth which is strong enough to send Sonic flying.
Pyrokinesis: Zavok is able to shoot large fireballs from both his hands and his mouth.
Acrobatics: Zavok is a master acrobat, being able to leap huge distances in one bound.
Magnetic Manipulation: Like all Zeti, Zavok can manipulate magnetic fields to suck in and repel metal objects at will and control machinery even formerly organic entities like Zombots.
Master Manipulator: Zavok has been shown repeatedly to outwit people more intelligent than him.
Full Strength Transformation: Zavok's ultimate ability allows him to grow into a giant and assume a far more powerful state which vastly enhances his strength and durability. This state has been shown to meet Angel Island at eye level.
Fireballs: Like in his previous form, Zavok can breath fireballs from his mouth but these are much stronger and larger than before.
Arsenal[]
Fists: Although he has never used any weapons of his own, Zavok is able to overwhelm his enemies with his bare hands.
Energy Empowerment: Zavok can channel red energy into his fists to grant him greater strength in battle and unleash much stronger punches.
Chaos Emerald Siphon: When Zavok had a Chaos Emerald lodged to his torso via a Chaos Emerald Siphon, it exaggerated his natural abilities and granted him immunity to the Metal Virus.
Core Gear: While allied with Dr. Starline, Zavok also received a Core Gear that allowed him to harness Power Cores' energy automatically. However, it was later destroyed.

Zavok, along with Zeena, is the only member of the Six whose name is not spoken in the game itself.
Although in Sonic Forces, Zavok's name was called out to by Sonic, when he met his replica (alongside replicas of Chaos, Shadow, and Metal Sonic).
One of the pronunciation of Zavok's name rhymes with havoc, reflecting his desire to wreak destruction upon all life on Earth. It could also refer to Havok, a physics engine that the Sonic games have been using.
According to the American manual of Team Sonic Racing, Zavok is no longer the leader of the Deadly Six however this was later proven false in the IDW comics.
Zavok serves as a darker counterpart to Knuckles. Both were manipulated by Eggman into trying to kill Sonic. Unlike Zavok, Knuckles redeemed himself and became friends with Sonic and Tails. Like Knuckles, Zavok betrayed Eggman. However, Zavok still held his grudge against Sonic the Hedgehog. Zavok serves as an example of what Knuckles would've become if he didn't let go of his aggressive behaviour and learned to concile with Sonic and Tails after betraying Eggman.
