Zegdalia, also known as the Winged Aparoid, is a minor antagonist and second boss of the 2005 video game, Star Fox: Assault.
It was an Aparoid Moth that was responsible for the destruction of a Cornerian fleet 17 years prior to the invasion signaling a warning of the invasion. When the invasion begins, Zegdalia serves as the first Aparoid to be encountered by Star Fox.
Alongside its brethren, Zegdalia has the appearance of having a giant size body and similar traits to that of a moth. In the traits of a moth, it possess a small thorax, a gray abdomen and four pairs of wings with black-hexagon shaped patterns and possessing eyes on each wings and fur on each edge of its wings and sticks on the wings' tips.

Zegdalia was one of the many Aparoids produced by the Aparoid Queen and enlisted to be in service to her royalty alongside the rest of her brood. When it was sent on a scouting mission, it spotted a fleet of Cornerian ships passing by and attacks. Following the destruction of the fleet, the surviving members could do nothing but witnessed the devastation as Zegdalia and the rest of the Aparoids would remain hiding until the invasion begins.
Star Fox: Assault[]
17 years after the attack, Zegdalia emerges from hiding joining the Aparoid Queen's campaign to invade and takeover the Lylat System. Approaching to Fortuna, it and its brethren manage to infiltrate to avoid being seen by both Cornerian and Venomian forces alike and instantly destroys Oikonny's ship, the Death Baboon, to deal with Star Fox. As Star Fox have their reaction seeing an Aparoid for the first time, Zegdalia shoots at Krystal only for her to dodge the attack, prompting Star Fox to return fire.
During the fight, Star Fox manages to destroy each of Zegdalia's wings. In a fit of rage, Zegdalia uses its tail to shoot a beam to form and lift rocks at Star Fox while leaving the orb in its mouth as an exposed weak point. Zegdalia was then killed after Star Fox manages to shoot at its orb, causing the creature to get destroyed and crashes, leaving behind its Memory Core. Fox steps out of his Arwing and escapes as a fleet of Aparoid Moths regroup before defeating what remains of Oikonny's forces on the planet.

Zegdalia makes an appearance in the game as one of the trophies in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros.: Ultimate[]
Zegdalia once again appears in the next game this time as a spirit fighter. In the World of Light story mode, it will appear in the puppet fighter version of Ridley on Venom with the Space Battleground theme as its personal music in the fight.
Trivia[]
Unlike the Aparoid Moths, Zegdalia remains the only Aparoid Moth to be fought against in the game.
Whom the Zegdalia attacks during its introductory cutscene depends on the country; it attempts to attack Krystal in the English version, but in the Japanese version, it attempts to attack Slippy instead.
