Zeke is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Lenny and Oscar) of the 2002 film Ice Age.
He is a hysteric saber-tooth tiger and one of Soto's henchmen. He is a little bit crazy about killing Manfred the mammoth.
He was voiced by Jack Black, who also played Slip in The Neverending Story III: Escape from Fantasia, Larry Hardcore in Clone High, Carl Denham in the 2005 King Kong film, Slappy the Dummy and The Invisible Boy in the 2015 Goosebumps film, Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the Chameleon in Kung Fu Panda 4.
Biography[]
Zeke is shown as a member of a pack of saber-toothed cats which (before the movie takes place) suffers an attack by a tribe of humans, who end up killing half of them for using their skins as clothes. In an attempt to avenge the deceased pack members (particularly including his mate and cubs), the pack's leader, Soto, plans to kill Roshan, the infant son of the tribe's leader.
Zeke is one of the tigers that attack the humans so that Diego can kidnap Roshan, but when he fails, the pack goes to wait for Diego in Half Peak.
At night of the same day, Zeke, alongside with Oscar, go to search for Diego and find out that he is planning to bring them both Roshan and a mammoth. Diego tells them to tell Soto, and leave.
As the pack waited for Diego at Half Peak, Zeke started reminiscing about the joys of mammoth flesh, much to Lenny's annoyance.
Near the end of the film, when Diego gets to Half Peak with the other animals, Zeke is the one that Diego teased by asking him if he wanted to maul something, and he is the one who made the pack go after Sid, who was wielding a fake mini-snowman with the baby's clothes. Zeke, Oscar and Lenny gave chase after Sid only to encounter Manfred, who threw a log at them, knocking them off a cliff and temporarily knocking them out.
When Zeke regains consciousness, he finds Sid getting Roshan out of a place that he had hidden him, but Roshan warns Sid by doing the "Where's the Baby?" sign with his hands and Sid manages to save Roshan and trap Zeke in a small crevice.
It's currently unknown whether he stayed trapped there and presumably perished from starvation and thirst, or was later rescued by the other pack cats.
Trivia[]
- Zeke almost resembles Nuka from The Lion King II: Simba's Pride in appearance and personality.
- Zeke was the only one of Soto's flunkies (apart from Diego) that is addressed by name in the movie (though only once) and is the only one with an established personality.
