The Zenin Family are major antagonists in the manga/anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. They are one of the Three Great Jujutsu Families in Japan, alongside the Gojo and Kamo families.
Due to being one of the Three Great Jujutsu Families, the Zenins prefer members with extraordinary amounts of Cursed Energy. Due to this, the clan rejects members who lack cursed energy, thus causing conflict in the hierarchy. They are the arch-enemies of Maki Zenin.
History[]
The Zenins were active during the time of the Vengeful Spirits, thus enabling themselves to rise to prominence in the current era. The Zenins also produced several notable Sorcerers throughout their history.
Several centuries later, Toji Zenin was found to possess zero Cursed Energy, making him a black sheep in the clan. The Zenin Family expelled Toji due to the same, not caring about his immense strength, which was due to the Heavenly Restriction placed on him. Despite his mistreatment, Toji decided not to destroy his clan for unknown reasons.
Similarly, several years later, after the birth of Maki and Mai Zenin to Ogi, the latter became extremely resentful due to the girls not having enough cursed energy, leading to Ogi mistreating them in the hope that he would rise up the Zenin family ranks by doing so. The Zenins later find out that Maki also has a similar Heavenly Restriction as Toji, but after not learning their lesson, they treated her poorly.
