“ | "As for who I am, my name is Zephia. I am a Mage Dragon of great power... and Lord Sombron's humble servant in all things." | „ |
~ Zephia introducing herself to her enemies |
Zephia is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside the Fell Princess) of Nintendo's 2023 tactical role-playing video game Fire Emblem: Engage.
She's a descendant of the Mage Dragons, a species who have lived for millennia, and serves as the right-hand woman of her master, Sombron and leader of the Four Hounds, a quartet of the Fell Dragon's elite worshipers that plans to revive him and assist him in achieving his goals of defeating the Divine Dragon and collecting all twelve of the Emblem Rings so that Eloys would be purge into darkness.
She is also the arch-enemy of both Prince Alfred and Princess Céline of Firene for attacking their kingdom, and later on Mauvier, after killing Marni and brainwashing Veyle.
In English, she's voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell and in Japanese, she's voiced by Rika Fukami.
Appearance[]
Zephia is a tall slender dark woman, with long slim white hair and beautiful violet eyes. Her appearance is unique, as she had two horns on her head (one small one by the left side of her head, and the other on right being a large), and pointy ears. She wore a purple and black dress that showed most of her skin, with a large pink skirt robe, covered with gold around it.
Personality[]
Zephia is shown to be a devoted and loyal follower of the Fell Dragon, being willing to resort to extreme measures when she feels like it was necessary. She was seen to be incredibly arrogant and sadistic as well, often taunting her enemies and gloating about the Fell Dragon's forces' progress and telling them things that they were unaware of so she could break their spirits.
Her relationship with the Four Hounds and Veyle was an incredibly twisted and toxic relationship to say the very least. While deep down, she genuinely did care for her hounds, often being affectionate and rewarding towards them, she was not above being cruel and merciless towards them should they fail her, as seen when Zephia savagely punishes Marni and Mauvier for losing two Emblem rings to the Divine Dragon's forces. And while she was somewhat regretful for committing the act, she killed Marni without hesitation for her betrayal. Her relationship with Veyle was even worse, as she treated the kind Veyle with incredible disdain, seeing her as a defect, but treated her darker side with deep reverence.
Biography[]
Zephia grew up in a village of mage dragons but her powerful magic ended up destroying her village and killing hundreds. She sided with Sombron during the war a thousand years ago and was a comrad to Alear. During an outing in the snowy mountains of Gradlon she encountered a group of strangers. When the past Alear arrived they ordered Zephia to report back to Sombron which she did. When she returned to Sombron however, both the strangers and past Alear have vanished.
Fell Xenologue[]
In an alternate Elyos, Zephia has a kinder counterpart named Zelestia. Zelestia is a kind Mage Dragon who serves Nel and Nil but has weaker magic than Zephia and is the last Mage Dragon in her world after Sombron destroyed her village.
Trivia[]
- She's the first member of the Four Hounds who appears in both Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem Heroes.
- It's implied that she losed her Dragonstone since she never turns into her dragon form and her incarnation from another world, Zelestia, losed hers.
