He is an ancient wesen who possibly served as inspiration for the Christian devil. Zerstörer has traveled across the world and through other dimensions to piece together a magic staff that will give him unstoppable power. He was portrayed by Wil Traval in his human form (who also portrayed Will Simpson in Jessica Jones) and by Douglas Tait in his woged form.
Overview[]
The Other Place[]
“ | If we think of this Other Place as that plane and the skull guy is the fallen angel, AKA the devil, Satan, Lucifer, whatever you wanna call him, I mean, maybe it's not hell per se... It looks a lot like it. There's no lava, no fire, no brimstone. It's a garden. | „ |
~ Monroe |
Centuries ago, Zerstörer got trapped in an alternate dimension known The Other Place (or Mirror Dimension), which looks like the German Black Forest and needs Hexenbiest blood to cross over, or a piece of Zerstörer's staff. To get him out of there, Zerstörer needs a Grimm.
Monroe's family Bible (Wesen version) says tha The Other Place is a beautiful place overrun by beasts where the fires of hell rage within. There, Wesen were woged all the time, even after they died. The non-Wesen people who live here (called Gehfleisch) are very primitive and speak in old German.
Zerstörer's Staff[]
There's a prophecy about a staff with the power of the gods which can't be destroyed. It was supposed to help Zerstörer's make Shaphat his bride and destroy the world. So the staff was broken into 100 pieces and scattered throughout the world to keep its powers out of the hands of evil.
However, Zerstörer put all the pieces back together before he got trapped in the Other Place. The Crusaders buried the last piece in the Black Forest on Germany; Earth, to keep the staff from ever regaining its full powers. The last piece (a stick) was later found by Nick and Monroe centuries later.
The Crusaders wrapped the stick in a cloth with symbols, which only the Shaphat (Diana) and Eve (after surviving the death grip) could see. The symbols says that was predicted that the planets would align and something very bad was gonna happen on March 24th.
The staff possibly has belonged to Moses, the immortal monkey king Sun Wukong (as Ruyi Jingu Bang) and the god Yama in Hindu mythology (as Kaladanda, the "Staff of Death").
The staff possibly has also belonged to Israel (formerly known as Jacob) who crossed the river Jordan with the staff, Judah (who gave It to his daughter-in-law Tamar), and David, who apparently left the staff to his descendants, and the Davidic kings used it as a scepter until the destruction of the temple, when it miraculously disappeared.
The staff Zerstörer's was carrying had a lot of cracks in it. The Staff's last piece reveals its location to him.
History[]
There have been prophecies of the arrival of Zerstörer, who is destined to make the Shaphat his bride and have a hundred children with her. The prophecy heralds a world overrun by beasts, but the fires of hell rage within the beast, not on the land.

Zerstörer went after Eve so she would go after him in The Other Place, so the Grimm (Nick Burkhardt) would go after her so he could use him to return to Earth and get the Shaphat (Diana Schade).
Zerstörer appears to Eve in a mirror portal after she takes a bath, similar to the death grip. Nick stares at the window portal and Zerstörer in shock, as the skeletal figure turns its attention to him before the portal disappear.
Zerstörer later appeared in another mirror to Eve and attempted to choke her, but she woged and managed to bite him. On March 24 (the day the symbols predicted), she used her blood to cross into another mirror to The Other Place and confront him. In The Other Place, Zerstörer is feared by humans and respected by the Wesen who live there.
Zerstörer appears to Nick and Eve and uses his staff to attack them. The Grimm uses the remaining bullets he has on his gun on him, but with no success. Since Zerstörer needs Nick's blood in order to travel to present day Earth, he manages to cross the portal while Diana opens it to bring Nick and Eve back. He arrives on Earth in his human form, killing several civilians along the way.
Zerstörer then attacks the Portland Police Department to get the stick back from Nick, killing several officers, impaling Hank through the throat and stabbing Wu in the stomach.
Zerstörer later appears at Rosalee's shop and attacks Nick and Eve (as Nick's stick reveals his location) and uses his staff to make Eve stab herself, killing her. Diana is hidden in the forest by her parents but Zerstörer eventually finds them, and Diana reveals that in addition to her, the monster also wants her half-brother Kelly.

Diana willingly goes with him. So Renard attacks him, Zerstörer stabs him in the heart with the staff, killing him. Monroe throws the "Force Du Sang" (a potion made with the blood of a Grimm, a Wesen and a Hexenbiest) on Zerstörer, making him suffer a breakdown. However, the effects soon disappear, finding that there's nothing that can kill him.
Adalind tries to kill him with an ax, but Zerstörer takes it and kills her with a slash to the chest. He then has his staff shift into a snake that bites both Rosalee and Monroe, killing them too. After that, Zerstörer leaves Nick to cope with his losses. He later uses his staff to strangle Trubel and states that he only needs the stick, and in exchange for it, he will bring back those who died, proving it by resurrecting Trubel.
Nick decides to give him the stick, but Trubel takes it and runs into the woods. So Nick, Trubel, and the spirit of Kelly and Marie join them against Zerstörer, managing to cut one of his arms. Nick then takes the staff, which unites itself with the stick and stabs Zerstörer in the chest, effectively killing him. Zerstörer's body disintegrates and his remains create a portal who begins to suck the staff within. Nick refuses to let go of the staff and is sucked into the portal, going back in time before Zerstörer killed everyone.
