Zeus is one of the two overarching antagonists alongside (Darkseid) of DC’s Absolute Universe comic, Absolute Wonder Woman.
He is the leader of the Gods of Olympus and directly related to the mysterious disappearance of the Amazons, a race of all female warriors and Diana of Themyscira's people. Though not having yet appeared in person, he is directly responsible for Diana's upbringing away from her sisters, and the one behind one of the main plot points of the series, that being what happened to the Amazons.
Biography[]
Zeus is the Greek god of thunder and God of Gods, leader of the Gods in Olympus. He arranged for the extinction of the Amazons in some level; though it is unknown if they're trapped or living in an afterlife, the Amazons in Themyscira no longer exist normally in the world.
For unknown reasons he tasked Apollo, God of Sun, to bring the spared last Amazon, an infant named Diana, to the underworld. She was given to the witch Circe, who was tasked with raising her but prohibited from ever saying the word "Amazon" again. However, the Gods, and likely Zeus, sent creatures after the girl ever since she was little. The Basilisk in particular, was sent after the heroine at the Wild Island multiple times.
When the still alive Amazon Io leaves the containment of Area 41, she is immediately struck down by lightning and reduced to dust, before reappearing in a seemingly preserved Themyscira with all of her Amazon sisters. It is possible and heavily likely that Zeus is the one behind the lightning.
