Zhaitan, the Elder Dragon of Death and Shadow, is the main antagonist of the "personal story" in Guild Wars 2, the overarching antagonist of the "Living World Season 1" and of the expansion pack End of Dragons.
Biography[]
Zhaitan was born as the scion of the Elder Dragon Soo-Won. Initially mindless like the others, Zhaitan eventually developed their own personality and fascinations, particularly in death, and left Soo-Won for the world, becoming hostile to their siblings and mother.
Zhaitan slept for an unknown length of time beneath the land of Orr. It woke in 1219 AE, raising the Orr peninsula above the water, causing many deaths and destruction even far from the lands of Orr. It amassed an army of undead Risen and ships, with its navy effectively preventing any contact with the continent of Cantha. Zhaitan rules its army from its den in the center of the holy human city, Arah. Zhaitan is the main antagonist of the personal story in "Guild Wars 2", attacking important Tyrian places such as Lion's Arch, which resulted in a creation of a multiracial organization, The Pact, to battle against Zhaitan and the threats of the other Elder Dragons.
Appearance[]
Zhaitan is relatively small compared to the other Elder Dragons. It has the appearance of an undead dragon made of dead dragons, with its body being decayed and tattered. It has several pairs of wings and tails, Its jaw is replaced by a nest of small dragon-headed necks, with a green light coming out from its eyes and mouth.
