Ziraphs are a race of massive, three-headed, giraffe-like Creatures of Grimm from the American animated webseries RWBY, first appearing in the 2019 novel RWBY: After the Fall.
History[]
Like other Grimm, Ziraphs were created by the God of Darkness in an attempt to rid the world of life, and remained even after he and the God of Light abandoned Remnant.
Ziraphs are native to the kingdom of Vacuo, wandering the deserts. One is attracted by negative emotions amplified by August Caspian's Semblance to the settlement of Feldspar, and attacks the settlement with a horde of other Grimm. It uses its powerful legs to kick down buildings and people. Team CFVY teams up to take it down, with Coco shooting its legs to make it fall to its knees and Yatsuhashi and Fox going for the necks, Fox runs up its side and slashes at the neck, soon stabbing his tonfas into its central head. The other heads snap at him and try to gore him with their horns, but Yatsuhashi manages to cut off the right head. The Ziraph wraps one of its massive tongues around Yatsuhashi and tries to devour him. Yastuhashi lops off the tongue and splits the head open. When the last head attacks, Fox cuts it off and kills it.
When The Crown attacks Vacuo, Ziraphs are among the Grimm that are drawn to the carnage as well as Gillian Asturias' Aura. One targets Gillain, and Yatsuhashi rides it to get closer to Jax Asturias. After defeating Jax and Gillain, the Ziraph is killed.
Powers and Abilities[]
Ziraphs are extremely tall, described as five stories in height. They have thick, bony plates covering their exteriors, making them extremely durable. They use sharp horns on their multiple heads to attack, and have powerful back legs that can be used for running or lethal kicking. They also posses elongated black tongues, which can wrap around an entire person and pull them into one of the Ziraph's mouths. Additionally, Ziraphs can also survive with only one head.
