Zoe Taylor is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Russell Northrop) of the 2006 action-adventure video game Bully.
She is a former student of Bullworth Academy who becomes a prominent member of the Townies, a rebellious clique operating on the fringes of the school and town. Expelled from the academy after accusing Mr. Burton of misconduct, she channels her intelligence, resourcefulness, and boldness into leading and executing pranks, acts of sabotage, and other schemes against authority figures. Known for her cunning and street smarts, Zoe is both strategic and daring, capable of organizing complex plans and navigating the challenges of Bullworth with confidence. Her actions reflect a mix of defiance, creativity, and a desire for justice, making her a dynamic and memorable figure in the game's narrative.
She was voiced by Molly Fox.
Biography[]
Overview[]
Zoe is originally from Bullworth and lives in the largest house in Blue Skies Industrial Park, a two-story home with a front porch that was once nice. Little is known about her family life, though she seems to have a strained relationship with her mother and often argues with her. Her father is never mentioned. She attended Bullworth Academy but was unfairly expelled after reporting sexual harassment by Mr. Burton the year before Jimmy arrived. Unused dialogue suggests she was once friends with Mandy.
Zoe is one of the more grounded characters in the game. She and Jimmy Hopkins share similarities, as both come from difficult home lives and are labeled as troublemakers, yet they are brave, determined, and willing to confront injustice. Zoe appears intelligent and enjoys reading, though she claims it's only to pass the time. She criticizes Bullworth residents as "fake" and holds grudges against Mr. Burton and Tad Spencer. While she claims to prefer dating older men and addicts for their supposed "romance," she eventually develops feelings for Jimmy and ends up dating him.
Though not a tomboy, Zoe has interests that go beyond traditional girly stereotypes. She enjoys destructive or chaotic activities, such as smashing Spencer Shipping's inventory, and finds humor in events like someone throwing a dead rat. Her dialogue during fights and threats shows she enjoys confrontation, but she is not portrayed as stronger than the other girls in the game.
Bully[]
Zoe appears as early as Chapter 2, taking part in the street Go-Kart Races, though she cannot be interacted with at that point.
Jimmy first encounters Zoe while exploring Blue Skies Industrial Park. Their meeting nearly turns into a fight when Zoe confronts Jimmy aggressively, asking what he's looking at. However, they quickly bond over their shared dislike of Mr. Burton and become friends during a revenge prank in which they use a riding mower to push a port-a-potty Burton is using down a hill. Later, they go on a date of Zoe's choosing, which involves destroying the inventory at Spencer Shipping Warehouse.
When Jimmy is expelled and searching for the Townies' leader, Edgar Munsen, Zoe assists him by helping track Edgar down and even distracting the Townies so Jimmy can sneak past them.
By the end of Chapter 5, Zoe is readmitted to Bullworth alongside Jimmy after he informs Dr. Crabblesnitch about her unfair expulsion and Burton's misconduct. Crabblesnitch reinstates her and fires Burton. The chapter ends with Jimmy and Zoe sharing a kiss as the credits roll.
