Zoinks and Groovy Don are the main antagonist of the episode, Zoinks the Wonder Dog, of the series, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!
Zoinks and Groovy were the respective past companions of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo. However, it later reveals that they are robots created by Dr. Phibes to eliminate them.
They were both voiced by Frank Welker.
Synopsis[]
Zoinks first appeared at front door of Shaggy and Scooby's mansion, and Shaggy was happy to see his long lost dog with Scooby being jealous. Zoink planned to do all bad things to get Scooby blamed from Shaggy like eating all the pizza, destroying the pool floating, and tying himself with Scooby holding a hammer.
Groovy Don arrived at the mansion, and Scooby was happy to see his old friend reunited with Shaggy being jealous. Groovy Don and Zoink deliberately destroy the television remote to cause Shaggy and Scooby to end their friendship and separate each other.
It revealed that Dr. Phibes had the techies create those robots of Shaggy and Scooby's past companion with his plan to drive a wedge between them, so he can order those robots to eliminate them. After successfully causing a rift, Zoink and Groovy Don can finally attempt to kill them. However, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo manage to run away from those robots and reunite and reconcile with each other. While the robots tried to kill the dog and the hippy boy the robots got hit by those lasers revealing their true form. Shaggy and Scooby manage to destroy them with Scooby using the force field Scooby Snack power by having all those lasers redirect toward those the robots and all the others towards Dr. Phibes.
Trivia[]
- Interestingly, Dr. Trebla, who was Albert Shaggleford in disguise, was not aware of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo having past companions, but Dr. Phibes was as he did his research, though it might have been a ruse to maintain his undercover role with Albert giving them a warning to Shaggy and Scooby-Doo.
- Apparently the robots cost around 1.8 million dollars each to make.
- The running gag throughout the episode was for the robots to blast Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, but the laser always redirects to Dr. Phibes.
