Zolders are the Black Cross Army's faceless footsoldiers and henchmen and antagonists in Himitsu Sentai Gorenger.
Zolders are brainwashed to be absolutely loyal and altered with enhanced strength and speed. They typically carry weapons such as machine guns, bazookas, grenades, and iron short swords although they have been known to carry throwing knives, bunker buster bombs, spear guns, and flamethrowers.
The Zolders commanded a number of bird-like vehicles including the small air fighters called Condolers and the much larger and powerful Battlers. They can be heard shouting "Hoi" often when attacking their victims.
Specialized divisions have also been created such as the Black Cross Army Ninja Team who specialize in subversion and infiltration and the Africa Gundan and elite corps of soldiers who serve Commander-in-Chief Golden Mask. There is also a squad of mystics who serve Black Cross Führer and are adapt at the Black Arts.
History
Under direction from the Black Cross Führer and his Masked Monsters, the Zolders carried out attacks on EAGLE bases all across Japan, destroying them and killing everyone inside as a way of demonstrating their power. With EAGLE weakened due to the attacks, the Fuhrer declared that it was now time for them to begin their offensive to take over the world and remake it in the image of the Black Cross. However, a new elite team would be formed from survivors of each of the Zolders' attacks called the Gorengers to defend the world from the Black Cross Army.
Later history
CRIME
Many Zolders were recruited by CRIME, the organization fighting the J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai, and assisted during their schemes of world conquest. They were part of the revived CRIME, consisting of remnants of CRIME and the Black Cross Army, which was wiped out by J.A.K.Q. and the Gorengers.
Combined Combatant
Several Zolders were part of an army of past enemy grunts that were fought by the Gokaigers in Los Dark's ghost dimension which housed the 1500 spirits of the villains defeated by the Super Sentai. After losing some of their number in an initial skirmish, the remaining members from each grunt group merged to form the Combined Combatant. Though the stronger opponent, the Combined Combatant proved to be unstable due to internal conflicting among the grunts composing him over who got to finish the pirates off. Taking advantage, the Gokaigers used the Battle Fever J Ranger Keys to destroy the Combined Combatant with the Penta Force cannon.
