Zombie Rabbids, also known as Zombidz, are minor antagonists of the Raving Rabbids video game series and its cartoon adaptation, Rabbids Invasion. They are zombified Rabbids originating from the GBA port of the first Rayman Raving Rabbids game that like to steal ice cream from other Rabbids.

They are voiced by Marcel Popo, Yoann Perrier, Cedric Mauroard, and Romain Brillaud. In the TV series, they were all voiced by Damien Laquet.

Appearance[]

The Zombie Rabbids' designs are vastly different throughout each game, though they still share the same design aspects and models as their regular, un-zombified counterparts.

  • In the GBA version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, the Zombie Rabbid enemies appear vastly different from the normal Rabbids' designs, as they are short and overweight, have permanently red irises, gray fur, and a small belly button on their chests. They also have one eye that is noticeably bigger than the other and also lacks a pupil. This design also deviates the most from the standard Rabbid model's proportions.
  • In Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, the Zombie Rabbids appear to have brownish gray fur covered in black and white lines, and have the standard white Rabbid eyes with blue irises.
  • In TV Party, the Zombie Rabbids are almost entirely green, have bloodshot eyes with tiny pupils, and appear to have their brains exposed.
  • In Rabbids Hollywood, the Zombie Rabbids are much closer to the normal Rabbids' designs, but with green, spotted fur and permanently green irises.
  • In season 1 of Rabbids Invasion, the Zombie Rabbids have green on most of their fur (save for their hands, feet and ears), purple on their eyelids and mouth, and yellowed eyes with green irises. The Zombie Rabbids' designs in season 4 are similar, but with the majority of their fur being green, the patches of skin on their eyes now being purple, and their eyes now being green and with orange irises.
  • In Rayman Adventures, the Zombie Rabbids have spotted green fur, dark green skin, small holes in their head and ears, bloodshot eyes with small red pupils, and an exposed brain covered up by a glass lid.
  • In The Sandbox, the Zombie Rabbids have grayish-green fur and noticeable pink scars on their head and arms, slightly green eyes with pink eyelids, and a torn brown tank top around chest.

Biography[]

Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA)[]

In the GBA version of the first Rayman Raving Rabbids, Zombie Rabbids appear as enemies in the Dark World. They will slowly wander around the area, moving slightly faster towards Rayman if he enters their line of sight, and attempt to bite him if he gets close enough. Defeating a Zombie Rabbid will cause their body to disintegrate, leaving only their eyeballs intact to bounce around for a bit.

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2[]

The Zombie Rabbids make an appearance in the mini game, Voodoo Rabbids. From the start, the Zombie Rabbids rose from the dead each time they were granted the ability to come back by the Skeleton Rabbids before disappearing to allow the player to make a tomb for a Rabbid corpse to come back. Getting the high score will reward the player with the Zombie Rabbids skin.

Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party[]

In a series of shooting gallery levels, the Zombie Rabbids play the role of the main antagonists of an in-universe movie the Rabbids are making. Unfortunately, the film is under sabotage by a bunch of video-bombing Rabbids dressed as chickens, who the player must shoot at with plungers to keep the film's tone in check. Shooting at either the Zombie Rabbids or the main characters of the film will cause the player to lose 100 points as a penalty.

In the first part, "Night of the Zombidz", a boy and girl Rabbid couple are walking around a graveyard, only for a group of Zombie Rabbids to pop up and chase them from behind for the male Rabbid's double-scoop ice cream. As the Rabbid couple continue to run away, more Zombie Rabbids arise from the grave to give chase. Eventually, the couple reach a dead-end at a cliff that the male Rabbid nearly falls off until his girlfriend to catches him by the ear and pulls him up, only for them both to realize the Zombie Rabbids have them surrounded from behind. The Rabbid couple manage to leap onto the end of another cliff, a continue to run away until they meet another dead-end in the form of a gate blocking their path.

The second part, "Dawn of the Rabbids", picks up from the previous level's ending as the Rabbid couple desperately pull at the gates, only to notice a Zombie Rabbid behind them and charge through the gates, breaking them. The male Rabbid attempts to run away, only for a chicken Rabbid to grab his ice cream and try to pull it out his hands, which the Rabbid director is angered by and kicks the chicken Rabbid off the set. The Zombie Rabbids continue to chase the Rabbid couple, who soon begin crossing the road, which is littered with Zombie Rabbids driving tractors carrying chicken Rabbids. After crossing the street, the Rabbid couple find a hill that they start to climb, after which they see a diner that they begin running towards. When they enter, the Rabbid couple notice the Zombie Rabbids crawling through the barricades, so they enter the closet to keep themselves safe, only for a Zombie Rabbid to pull the doors open and scream at them before stealing their ice cream and passively walking away, whistling to himself as two other Zombie Rabbids follow him.

Rabbids Hollywood[]

In the light-gun arcade game, Rabbids Hollywood, The Zombie Rabbids appear as the main enemies of the second world, "Night of the Living Rabbids", and the main antagonists of its in-universe film. Similarly to their appearance in TV Party, the Zombie Rabbids chase a Rabbid couple for their ice cream, though this time they will also target the players during gameplay, and with far more variants than before: basic Zombie Rabbids will slowly move towards the camera to attack one of the players' screens, Gunner Zombie Rabbids will shoot at the players with a plunger gun, Cannon Zombie Rabbids rapidly fire plungers at the players and take a number of hits to defeat, Rocket Zombie Rabbids will fly towards the screen to damage all players if they fail to defeat them, Armored Zombie Rabbids are covered in metal suits that make them take way more hits to kill, Zombie Turkeys are weak but also fast and come in large numbers, and Zombie Turkey Riders are Zombie Rabbids piggybacking on Zombie Turkeys that make them faster.

In Act 1, a boy and girl Rabbid couple are seen happily walking around a graveyard enjoying their ice cream until the female Rabbid drops one of her scoops. Afterwards, a pair of Zombie Rabbids pop out of the ground to chase them. Near the end of the level, a group of Zombie Rabbids get onto the back of a truck carrying an explosive barrel as a Cannon Zombie Rabbid encourages another basic Zombie Rabbid to hop on, only for the latter's ear to catch fire from an explosive barrel, causing the truck to explode when he reaches it, forcing the player to shoot at the broken parts before they hit the screen. Afterwards, the Rabbid couple head off to a mansion, where they find a hot rod. The male Rabbid tries to drive the hot rod away to safety, only for it to not move while the Zombie Rabbids show up in front of the windows, forcing the couple to exit one of the doors and run away.

In Act 2, the Rabbid couple run away from the graveyard and down the steps while the Zombie Rabbids chase them. The couple run down the road, only to be faced by a large group of Zombie Rabbids reenacting Michael Jackson's Thriller dance, forcing the couple to run off to the side. Near the end of the level, a Rocket Zombie Rabbid holding flare slowly walks towards another Zombie Rabbid in a gas station before stopping to light his jetpack with the flare, only for the other Zombie Rabbid to warn him not to, as it could cause the gas pumps to explode. The Rocket Zombie Rabbid agrees, only to throw the flare away towards one of the gas pumps as the two walk away, causing the gas station to blow up anyway as the Rabbid couple watch from a distance while the player is forced to shoot at all of the broken pieces before they hit the screen. Afterwards, the Rabbid couple run towards a diner that they climb to the top of, only for the Zombie Rabbids to follow and surround them, forcing the couple to jump down the chimney. A Zombie Rabbid then breaks in through the windows, to the confusion of two other Zombie Rabbids that were already inside. The Rabbid couple quickly realize the diner is filled with Zombie Rabbids and proceed to run away. The Rabbid couple run through the exit and enter a gas station, where they find an ice cream truck parked inside. They jump into the ice cream truck an drive it through the garage door and off into the distance, ending the level.

Act 3, the final level of the world, picks off from where Act 2 left off as the Rabbid couple are being chased by a Zombie Rabbid driving the same hot rod the couple found in Act 1, which acts as the final boss of the world. During the first phase of fight, the Zombie Hot Rod Driver will drive to the side with a Cannon Zombie Rabbid on top of his vehicle to shoot at the player while a bunch of Gunner Zombie Rabbid pop out of the ground to act as reinforcements. The player must eliminate all of the Cannon and Gunner Zombie Rabbids onscreen, afterwards the camera will pan to the front of ice cream truck, where the player must deal with a barrage of Rocket Zombie Rabbids flying towards the screen, triggering the second phase of the fight. The Rabbid couple manage make a fast turn on the road as does the Zombie Hot Rod Driver, who approaches with another Cannon Zombie Rabbid that the player must defeat, after which the Zombie Hot Rod Driver will attempt to ram his vehicle into the couple's ice cream truck, forcing the players to shoot at the hot rod's three weak spots, damaging the hot rod and causing it to flip over, triggering the third and final phase of the fight. The player must now deal with a trio of Gunner Zombie Rabbids while a Rocket Zombie Rabbid attacks them, then the camera will pan back to the Zombie Hot Rod Driver's vehicle, which now has four more weak spots the player must shoot at, ending the fight and causing the hot rod to explode. The Rabbid couple celebrate their victory, only to realize they've both lost the remaining scoops in their ice cream cones. They then look behind to see a single Zombie Rabbid that stowed away in the ice cream truck licking at the couple's missing ice cream scoops, thus ending the campaign. Afterwards, the Rabbid director congratulates the player for beating the campaign along with all the Rabbid actors that starred in the film as Zombie Rabbids and the Rabbid couple.

Rabbids Invasion[]

Season 1[]

In the episode, "Zombie Rabbid", a Rabbid with a tooth brush notices three other Rabbids with a box of donuts, which he asks to have one of. One of the other Rabbids offers him a donut in exchange for his tooth brush, only to go back on his word and eat the donut in front of him before laughing at him along with the other two Rabbids in his group. Distraught, the bullied Rabbid goes down the escalator while one of the jerk Rabbids throws his own toothbrush at him, before the trio of bullies walk way. The bullied Rabbid walks away in anger until he sees a box of donuts on the floor with noticeable mold on them. Excited, the Rabbid grabs one of the donuts and eats it without a second thought, until he realizes its awful taste and quickly grows sick as another pair of Rabbids walk into the shopping center, one of whom is wearing a pair of orange boxers. The two notice the sickly Rabbid, and one wearing orange boxers begins to poke at him with a leak, after which the sickly Rabbid reveals his zombified look to the duo, causing them to run away in fear. The two Rabbids hide behind a palm tree and poke their heads out, quickly noticing the box of moldy donuts behind the Zombie Rabbid, which they eagerly sneak behind him to get. The Zombie Rabbid quickly notices the other Rabbids have gone past him, and visibly tries to warn the two not to eat the donuts, only for them to run away in fear up the down escalator. When the two Rabbids look back and see the Zombie Rabbid slowly walking towards them, they try to speed up, only to crash into a lady's shopping cart. The two get off the shopping cart and try to eat one of the donuts before looking to their side at the Zombie Rabbid, still trying to warn them to get away from the moldy donuts. The duo, not understanding his warning, proceed to throw some of the donuts at him, to not effect. They then run towards the escalator and go up to the second floor, laughing as the trio of bully Rabbids from the beginning notice them with the moldy box of donuts. One of the bully Rabbids attempts to grab one of the donuts, only for the escalator door to close on his hand and move back down, which the duo proceeds to laugh at until they notice they're back on the first floor with the Zombie Rabbid. They fearfully run into a Photo Booth, which the Zombie Rabbid shuffles past. After a bit of hiding, the duo tries to act brave walking out, only for the Zombie Rabbid to show up in front of them, to which the two proceed to run away, only to be blocked by small a pile of boxes. The unclothed Rabbid unsuccessfully tries to push the boxes away, which the boxers Rabbid laughs at as he simply jumps over the boxes with the donuts, which his friend also does to keep up with him. The unclothed Rabbid tries to hide in a vending machine, only to get stuck, to which his boxers-wearing friend looks at him with annoyance and tries to pull him out unsuccessfully until the Zombie Rabbid helps out and frees him. The boxers Rabbid thanks him, only to realize it's the Zombie Rabbid, so he and his friend run away up the escalator in fear, leaving one of the moldy donuts near the bully Rabbid trio. The duo of Rabbids hide inside a freezer while the Zombie Rabbid walks past them, and the unclothed Rabbid eats one of the donuts, only to grow sick an turn into a Zombie Rabbid himself, which his boxers-wearing friend notices and runs out the freezer in fear. The first Zombie Rabbid, along the boxer Rabbid's recently-zombified friend, try to search for him, but walk so slow that a montage of people are seen buying products near them without noticing. The boxers Rabbid hides under one of the shelves until he notices a pretzel and takes a bite out of it, thus alerting the two Zombie Rabbids to his location, after which he crawls under the shelves and runs away in fear before hitching a ride on a shopping cart, to which the two Zombie Rabbids look at each other in confusion. The boxers Rabbid then jumps off the shopping cart near the elevator, only to notice the newly-zombified Rabbid bully trio, before looking back at the other two Zombie Rabbids behind him, and proceeding to rush out of the shopping center and into the city. The boxers Rabbid attempts to eat the last donut near a dumpster, only to notice a horde of Zombie Rabbids surrounding him. The boxers Rabbid then climbs onto the dumpster smiling as the Zombie Rabbids unsuccessfully trying to stop him from eating the donut, the episode ending right as he's about to eat it, turning into a Zombie Rabbid himself.

Season 4[]

In the episode, "Night of the Living-Rabbids", the Rabbids are enjoying a fake zombie movie being played behind a screen-less TV, where a female Rabbid dances to some music while Rabbid wearing a zombie mask shows up from behind and attempts to bite her, only to be hit with a shovel by a brave Rabbid with a mustache. The mustachioed hero attempts to kiss the girl, only for the undead Rabbid to pop up from behind and bit him while the female Rabbid screams, before cutting to a commercial where a princess Rabbids feeds a Rabbid in a pink teddy bear costume dog biscuits, before eating most of them herself. The Nerdy Rabbid and the headband-wearing Rabbid boo at the commercial as the Rabbid actors get ready for the ending. The film then continues with mustachioed Rabbid having been zombified as he and the other zombie actor begin chasing the Rabbid actress until she slaps one of them towards the TV and in front of the audience. The Nerdy Rabbid and headband Rabbid run away screaming, causing Professor Mad Rabbid to wake from his long nap. Mad Rabbid notices the zombie actor in front of him and mistakes him for a real zombie, so he runs off to find the cure, only to be confused which of his two spray cans is the cure. While one of the zombie actors tries to explain to the other Rabbids that they aren't really zombies, Mad Rabbid tackles him and sprays him with the green spray can, which turns him into an actual Zombie Rabbid that proceeds to bite him, turning Mad Rabbid into another Zombie Rabbid. They attempt to bite Nerdy Rabbid, only for the Rabbid actress to save him by hitting the Zombie Rabbids with a shovel. The two Zombie Rabbids then proceed to infect a Rabbid licking a toilet brush, a Rabbid taking the escalator with them, and the princess and teddy bear Rabbids from the commercial. The Rabbid actress, the headband Rabbid, and Nerdy Rabbid continue to fend off the zombies until a headband-wearing zombie chaotically drives the Yellow Submarine the Rabbids are in into the neighborhood, indirectly causing Nerdy Rabbid to grab the suitcase holding the cure. The headband Rabbid holds onto Nerdy Rabbid before sticking a plunger to the floor, throwing a Zombie Rabbid that was grabbing him into the headphones-Rabbid controlling the Submarine, causing it to stop moving. The survivors exit the Submarine and enter Granny's house through the doggy door, before barricading it with an armchair as Nerdy Rabbid tries to figure out the cure, only for the Zombie Rabbids to enter through the open windows. The headband Rabbids throws the Rabbid actress at the Zombie Rabbids to protect himself, only to be attacked and bitten in the butt by one of them. The Zombie Rabbids then climb up the couch to attack Nerdy Rabbid, only to be distracted by the Rabbid actress playing music on the radio. Nerdy Rabbid finally comes to the conclusion that the red spray is the cure, only to accidentally shove it into the infect Mad Rabbid's mouth, causing himself to also get infected. The Rabbid actress takes the stair lift up to escape the Zombie Rabbids while they chase her, and discovers the Rabbid hero from the movie, who tries to help, only to start dancing with the zombified princess Rabbid and get infected by the horde. The Rabbid actress exits through the window onto the roof, and is jumped by the zombified Mad Rabbid, who she throws a plunger at, causing it to get stuck his face. Mad Rabbid pulls the plunger off, releasing the cure from his mouth, which the Rabbid actress grabs just before I can roll off the roof, and proceeds to spray it at him, curing him. The Rabbid actress then comes back to the window and sprays all the Zombie Rabbids inside with the cure, turning them all back to normal. The Rabbids then finish off their fake movie with the Rabbid actress attacking the Zombie Rabbid actors with an ax.

In the episode, Bwah-Cula's Wedding, a number of Zombie Rabbids are invited to Bwah-Cula and his fiancé's wedding. Unlike the previous episode they appeared in, the Zombie Rabbids act far more passive, suggesting that these particular Zombie Rabbids aren't entirely infected. A Rabbid in a pink teddy bear costume attends the wedding party after stealing the Rabbidstein Monster's invitation, and meets a Zombie Rabbid serving grotesque snacks. The teddy bear Rabbid asks if they can get anything more appetizing, to which the Zombie Rabbid hits the table with an ax and offers them a green liquid with a bandage in it, which the teddy bear Rabbid safely declines, before noticing that all of the other attendees are zombies and other kinds of monster Rabbids. As Bwah-Cula and his soon-to-be wife walk down the castle, he teddy bear Rabbid spreads flowers to celebrate, after which the Zombie Rabbids and other attendees begin throwing much larger objects at the couple, hitting Bwah-Cula's bride and causing her wig to end up on the head of another Zombie Rabbid, who enjoys the wig until the teddy bear Rabbid pulls it off and puts it back on the bride. As the two love birds are about to pronounced husband and wife by Rabbidkhamun, the teddy bear Rabbid celebrates by holding hands with a Zombie Rabbid. After the Rabbidstein Monster barges into the wedding to get revenge on the teddy bear Rabbid, he notices a trio of Zombie Rabbids playing music, and then the teddy bear Rabbid in a conga line with a bunch of Zombie Rabbids, and attempts to give chase, only for Rabbidkhamun to force him into the conga line, forcing him to attack the Zombie Rabbids in front of him in order to get to the teddy bear Rabbid, who runs off in fear. After the Rabbidstein Monster ruins Bwah-Cula's wedding, causing his wife to angrily throw her wig to the ground and leave, the teddy bear Rabbid offers to be his new bride, which the Zombie Rabbids and other attendees happily celebrate.

Other Appearances[]

Rabbids Rumble[]

In Rabbids Rumble, a Zombie Rabbid by the name of Bwainz appears as a playable Rabbid you can unlock via Street Pass battles against other "infected" players that have Bwainz.

Rayman Adventures[]

In the mobile game Rayman Adventures, a single Zombie Rabbid would spawn in each level during the Halloween event, sometimes hidden and other times on the regular path. Their behavior would vary from standing idly to wandering around and and charging at the player with a spatula if they enter the Zombie Rabbid's line of sight. Defeating them with a single hit will reward the player with two pumpkins, which can be traded for tickets, eggs, or costumes coinciding with the event.

The Sandbox[]

In the NFT game platform, The Sandbox, a Zombie Rabbid could be unlocked as a playable character by buying the "Zombie - Rabbids" NFT for 1000 etherium. The Zombie Rabbid has 17 defense and is part of the "Mascots" category.

Trivia[]

  • The Zombie Rabbid design in the GBA version of Rayman Raving Rabbids is actually based on one of several scrapped Rabbid designs for the cancelled game, Rayman 4, specifically the one labelled as "too fat" in the promotional video, Making a Rabbid.
  • Interestingly, the Zombie Rabbids' roles in both TV Party and Rabbids Hollywood are eerily similar to each other in that they both feature shooting gallery levels taking place in an in-universe film where a horde of Zombie Rabbids chase a boy and girl Rabbid couple through a graveyard, the streets, and a diner, with both campaigns ending with one Zombie Rabbid successfully stealing the Rabbid couple's ice cream.
  • Out of all the recurring notable Rabbids in the Raving Rabbids series, the Zombie Rabbids have gotten the most redesigns, with a whopping 8 different design changes throughout all of their appearances.
