The Zombies are one of the main species and a hostile species that appears in Plague Inc. in the Special Plagues mode. They are created after infection with the Necroa Virus and can be controlled by the player directly.
Appearance[]
The Zombies from Plague Inc are represented as normal humans that are infected by the Necroa Virus, with this pathogen causing massive and fatal events in their bodies as it evolves, mainly filling their brains of blood, causing a massive necrosis and gangrene in their skin (not actually shown but directly implied), the complete whitening of the eyes, their skin becomes pale and is filled with holes that expose their internal body, and teeth designed to bite humans.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Zombies have various abilities that are dependant from the Necroa Virus as it evolves inside them.
Most of their abilities are not very different from the common zombies found in science fiction at first, but the player can evolve the virus and increase their powers, such as giving them advanced sight and hearing senses, protection against normal objects that would kill any person easily, using their own bodies as a shield, and taking advantage from their mutations.
The Zombies tend to attack people in hordes, and they seem to always have a horde leader and be more intelligent.
It is impossible to cure the Zombies as they are already dead, so the living humans from Plague Inc tend to attack them in other ways like with weapons. However, the Necroa Virus itself can still be cured if there are any remaining humans that are not infected.
Biography[]
As the player spreads the Necroa Virus, when there are already dead people and the player has sufficient DNA Points, he can activate a symptom called "Cytopathic Reanimation" that starts to repair damaged cells in dead bodies, thus reanimating them and starting the zombie apocalypse.
At first, the Zombies seem to still retain memories and awareness of their previous lives before dying, but when another symptom called "Anaerobic Resuscitation" is triggered by the player, their personality is destroyed by the virus, turning them into mindless beings.
According to the game, they suffer from hyper salivation, polyphagia, and autophagia, thus turning them into cannibals that, because of their extreme hunger, start to devour other living beings, including humans and their own bodies. When all humans on Earth have finally been devoured, the zombies start to finally die from hunger, and after some time become extinct, leaving the planet completely lifeless.
