Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
Before you refuse me, remember what I am offering you. We will remake... everything. Life. Death. You will be by my side at each step. Together we will show every soul that both their lives, and the eternity that awaits them, are prisons. And we will bring them true freedom.

~ Zovaal to Sylvannas, World of Warcraft: Sylvanas
Zovaal, better known as The Jailer, is one of the overarching antagonists of the Warcraft franchise, appearing as the overarching antagonist of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and the main antagonist of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, as well as having a hand in major events of the story from as far back as preceding Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
Once filling a vital role of overseeing eternal torment and imprisonment for the foulest of souls, The Jailer turned on his fellow Eternal Ones, forcing them to seal him away within his own realm. The Jailer's influence spreads through his Mawsworn army, corrupted agents from various Shadowlands realms who enforce his will.
Pulling the strings behind the scenes, it was the Jailer's plan to have Sylvanas Windrunner ascend to the position of Warchief of the Horde, thus, indirectly, making him responsible for all the atrocities the Banshee Queen committed, as well as ultimately revealing his plans in action over the course of decades in Azeroth.
One of the Eternal Ones, primordial entities of death, Zovaal once worked in harmony with his kin in providing an essential aspect of the cycle of life and death; the eternal imprisonment of the most twisted and irredeemable souls in existence.
However, eons ago, he betrayed the others, desiring to reshape reality and gain control over the Shadowlands. This led him to betray the other Eternal Ones, sparking a rebellion. His siblings, including the Winter Queen, Primus, and Archon, united to imprison him within the Maw. Stripped of his power and title as Arbiter, he was bound to this dark prison and condemned to oversee the realm of irredeemable souls.
The Jailer emerges as the orchestrator behind much of the turmoil in Shadowlands. Orchestrating a plot, he completely disrupted this cycle and brought drought and misery to the Shadowlands by stealing all the arriving souls, and in turn, their anima, the vital resource of the afterlife. He orchestrated the ascension of Sylvanas to the position of Warchief, leading to the destruction of Teldrasil, as well as the liberation of the Old God N'Zoth, and then the shattering of the veil itself. He allies with Sylvanas Windrunner, drawing her to his side by exploiting her desire to escape the eternal torment she endured in the Maw. Together, they aim to destabilize the Shadowlands and retrieve the five sigils held by each Eternal One, which Zovaal believes will allow him to control the very fabric of existence.
His forces invade Oribos and covenant realms, attempting to seize powerful artifacts that will enable his escape from the Maw and access to the Sepulcher of the First Ones, where he plans to enact his ultimate plan.
Zovaal's ultimate goal is the complete unmaking of all of reality, and in turn, recreate it in his will, and subjugate all of creation to it.
Personality[]
The Jailer is a paragon of evil and malice. While he was originally in harmony with the rest of his kin, over time he would become full of hate and cruelty. Harboring an extreme drive to enslave and punish, Zovaal sees all of creation as a perversion of what he sees as a perfect universe, this being a universe where all life and death is bound to his will. Secretly responsible for a large number of the worst events in Azeroth's history, there is no deed too evil, no plan too reprehensible to achieve his goals. In the end, all will be unmade, and all life in the universe will end, and be born anew as slaves to Zovaal.
